There's normal time and DuranTime. DuranTime tends to move a bit slower (there's a delay of about 2 years) than normal time... But I agree, as long as they can surprise me with every new album than I don't mind waiting a little longer. That's the attraction for me in DD's music, no two albums (al least since Notorious) sound the same. If I ever get tired of that I can always become a fan of Bon Jovi...(sorry Bon Jovi fans  ) |

must admit the longer it goes on, the more depressed i feel - even ronson isnt really bigging it up now. i suspect its not as great as they thought honestly

must admit the longer it goes on, the more depressed i feel - even ronson isnt really bigging it up now. i suspect its not as great as they thought honestly I'm kinda catching that vibe, too - that they're having second thoughts about the material and are trying to get it to where they want it. The fact that Simon wasn't inspired by the music and had to bring in help to get any lyrics written doesn't strike me as a great sign. I think we'll still get an album, but it likely won't be this year. |

i don't get the pessimism.
From what we have heard from them we already know the album isn't planned to be released until around the summertime so i wouldn't expect anyone to be "bigging up" the album at the moment or even announcing release dates for a single/album. I wouldn't expect to hear anything about the albums possible release date or more info on it until maybe Easter time.
It is only 23rd January 2010, a little early to start slitting your wrists as Duran haven't got the album in stores now!!

My guess is they had to lay down some music first, THEN figure out if there were any takers (major labels, etc.), which would be dependent on folks hearing what they'd come up with. They're probably looking for a deal or going to plan B (or C) if things aren't working out on the business side. They've obviously talked to some folks (the Itunes dude, for example). Probably looking for some sponsors and ways to get music in some tv shows/movies, etc. Lets just hope they don't end up with luke warm major label interest with suits telling them, "hey.....why don't you try doing this....." and sending them back in the studio to cook up one for the label. |

Agreed. I'm confident the album will be out within the next 6 months in whatever shape or form. Maybe the guys aren't happy with bits of it here and there but i don't think it's anything drastic. |
