Hi, saw this auction on ebay for a promo video containing a video for Arcadia's Say The Word... I wasn't aware a video was shot for that song, or would it be only scenes from that movie Playing For Keeps?
Anyone more info on this?
Thanks and best regards, Peter

This seller from Australia is really overpriced on his items. On top of that, he bid on a Duran item I was auctioning off and canceled his bid saying that he had entered in the wrong amount. Sure. Right.

Right. Obviously i can't comment directly about what did or didn't happen with bidding/cancelling - though, in 11 years of being on eBay myself, i've certainly cocked up when bidding a few times myself, & have seen others do the same... ...for example, a couple of years back, was helping my father sell a mini landscaping digger & the wining bidder inadvertently entered £50,000 instead of £5,000 - as it was in the last couple of minutes, my father ended up with a *very* good price for it; though unfortunately nowhere near the amount entered otherwise i'd have demanded a cut... However, re pricing, whilst there's always a couple of items that she is listing which are at the higher end of what i'd be happy with if i didn't own them, the vast majority are actually pretty reasonable (unless you're after the moon on a stick), everything turns up as listed, there's always a great friendly service &, naturally, you can always choose whether you want to bid on something or not... i guess the key factor is that she's not the main D2 expert in the family so, unlike a certain UK seller who for a long time has had ridiculously high pricing (really not sure what happened there as originally he was a decent seller), imho there's no conniving or deliberate over-profiteering there... ...well, along with bidding/B-i-N-ing on the things i wanted (this is me typing having spent just shy of £200 (this time around) on things from her), there was also one item that was mis listed (the pairing of 2 things was completely wrong to be sold as a single item) that i pointed out to her &, rather than amending the auction as i'd have been tempted to do, it was instantly pulled... ...& you really can't complain about a seller reacting like that so that no one could be disappointed. Okay, maybe you personally think that everything's too expensive (there's no obligation to buy from anyone on eBay, we all have our budgets & things are worth different amounts in different countries) &, admittedly, we'd all love to get all of the über-rare things for a penny each, but, as someone who certainly doesn't have all the money in the world these days & so has to collect somewhat selectively (not that i used to have *all the money*, but...), i know i'm going to be more than happy with the things i've bought when they arrive & paid a decent price.

The thing is, when you bid on Ebay, you are prompted to 'confirm' your bid. Now, the item I was auctioning off wasn't even close to ending, so there was no rush on the bidders part to enter their bid. Also, there's an amount shown near the bidding area that tells potential bidders how much they would need to bid in order to beat the current bid. My opinion, as one who has been selling on Ebay for quite some time, is that this bidder was trying to see what the last bidder's maximum bid was and then go "oops, I entered the wrong amount". I've seen it done before and it's a pretty piss poor tactic to find out what the top bid is.

I've seen it done before and it's a pretty piss poor tactic to find out what the top bid is. i don't dispute at all that you do have to confirm things, but that's not to say that honest mistakes can't happen - even when there's bunches of time. As said, i freely admit that i've cocked up in this way a handful of times over 11 years &, whilst the sellers may have assumed something akin to what you've done, that's certainly not been what i've been attempting to achieve - either it's actually been the wrong amount or i've gone mad (or even more insane many would say) & bid on the completely wrong item from having too many windows (or latterly) tabs open. An unusual mistake doesn't a pattern make (or some such), & as eBay can automatically track patterns then 'if' someone were to be regularly doing this then i'd imagine they'd have words... ...well in that, for example, only some people get the direct eBay hotline number emailed to them to resolve any issues more quickly than emailing or the (shortly to be defunct in the UK) eBay Plus points for having a decent record, it's not difficult to imagine that they'd also target the less good. Still, quite naturally, you're entitled to hold whatever conclusion you'd like to based upon a one-time occurrence - i was simply trying to put this bit of things into perspective... ...though it was a side issue.

Right. Thank you Redmumba for that character assasination,I can assure you that if I made a bid on any item you listed and withdrew said bid it would be a legitimate error and if you had an issue you have every right to report me to ebay,,,,However i do not think it appropriate that you use such a forum to besmirch my name publicly and personally....If you have an issue with my pricing or conduct then please take it up with me or ebay...not use your status on this message board to potentially influence others with no exposure to me or my listings....And BTW....There are many on this message board who have (contrary to your assertion) purchased items from my brother`s collection because the price listings are fair and I conduct myself in a reasonable and ethical manner...My brother gave me the remit when selling his much loved items to "make sure they go to good homes" so was never about financial gain, and I challenge anyone that has bid and purchased an item from me to assert otherwise......... I think you should have more insight into your actions instead of responding in a personal emotive and visceral manner rather than taking time to be objective... In addition and as a final word I am disappointed that only pocketdemon had the strength of character to publicly defend my listings (and therefore me by default) when I am sure many more of the 160 readers of this message have failed to have the time, vested interst or inclination to do so...If this is because you (redmumba ) are a power broker of sorts on this message board then good luck to you, because those who use anonymous forums to promulgate their aspirations for power are usually inherently inadequate in their personal idioms and as such I wish you all the best

@ depeche - It wasn't a character assassination, it was my opinion - the items are too overpriced. Take it or leave it. If I wanted to assassinate someone's character, I think I could do a better job than just stating my opinion. I'm sure that if you go to any board regarding any band you'll find a topic about Ebay and various sellers and what those board members have to say about them.
As for bidding on Ebay - as I've stated in this thread before, which you probably didn't read because you were SO focused on trying to defend yourself and dress me down (which you failed to do), Ebay has safeguards in place when it comes to bidding. First, you have to sign in. Secondly, there's a price that's shown as to how much you would have to bid to trump the current bidder. Finally, there's a little green button that says "confirm". I stand by my assertion that the bid thrown in by you was nothing more than a "let's see what the current bidder's high price is and then say 'oops, put in the wrong amount' ploy". I've been on selling stuff on Ebay a long time and have seen this pulled - not just on my stuff, but others.
I find it amusing that you were alerted to the fact that someone had an OPINION about a seller on Ebay and decided to register just for the sake of boo-hooing about it. Here, while you've taken the time and effort to defend yourself against an opinion, why don't you scour the boards for other comments about other Ebay sellers and get them to chime in.
And, oh yeah, I'm such a power broker on this board that I practically run the place. Sheesh. Get real.
