Yeah, they sure wasted no time getting to the freaks this year. I've already had enough.

I used to watch it from the beginning of the season - but when they began to focus (during the audition period) on the NO TALENT people - I tuned out.
Tuning back in will occur when the top 12 have been chosen and I'll tune in at the end of the month to see how far they have gotten with eliminations.

The only reason I watched American Idol at first was to laugh at the really bad singers. Then I got hooked and started watching all the way through the season.

OMG WTF Seattle?
Most of those people that they are showing are not from Seattle. I am confused. Not to mention my ears hurt now.

How many people would really watch if it was two hours of people who sing *pretty well* I would. I LOVE seeing the raw talent come through! It's like being in on an exciting treasure hunt! But overall I can't bear to watch the first episodes where they are screening the talent. I think the way they're presented is disgusting. I prefer to wait to watch until they get to Hollywood, where the people with a modicum of talent have their shot. That's what the whole show should be about IMO, not showcasing people who are so desperate for attention and/or validation that they are willing to humiliate themselves for their 15 minutes of fame. That's just sad. And IMO the people who tune in specifically to laugh and slather over these people should be embarrassed. I can see letting a few people who waver around the "thru to Hollywood" high mark be shown, if only to show the true measure of talent you need to make it, but to put on the "freaks" and those who are clearly mentally unstable is just pathetic and beyond the pale. The few such episodes I've ended up watching with friends or family made me feel sick and ashamed to be even peripherally associated with it. I don't watch them anymore at all. That said, I can't wait until the Hollywood episodes!

I liked it when the showed good singers and even did little profiles on them.
The first two shows has been 90% suckitude and 10% fair to good singers who get sent to Hollywood.
Tonight they focused so much time on the bad singers that at the end they said "and these lucky people are off to Hollywood" but we never even heard a peep out of any of them.
