Personally, I don't care if gays are allowed to marry because as far as I'm concerned straight people have destroyed marriage far more than gays. I don't even know why this is an issue with some because if it doesn't concern someone they need to butt out. Gay people aren't going to cost more in taxes or anything else.

You'd think they'd want gays to marry. When I was a kid the evangelicals raised six kinds of hell over couples that decided to just "live together." When those two words appeared in the Beach Boys' "Wouldn't It Be Nice" the song was banned from radio airplay.

To the evangelicals marriage is this: woman and man marry, have lots of kids then woman is submissive to man and he is allowed to do what he wants but she needs permission. Gay marriage twists this around and they don't like it. After all in a gay marriage there are two of the same sex. I have a lot of issues with evangelicals and though I am religious, this mindset bothers me. Not everyone wants to have kids, and there are same sex couples who want to be parents. There are straight couples who live together before marriage (or never marry), ones where the woman is the dominant, and many other styles in between. While I hope to have a more traditional marriage (meaning I am planning to marry a man and if God willing hoping to have a child or adopt)this is not for everyone and I would rather see a gay couple happy than miserable marrying the opposite sex just to make it look good. I grew up near a gay couple and they were married except legally. When the one partner died the living one lost everything to the deceased guy. The dead partner's family (who disowned him when he came out)got everything and the living partner got screwed. If they had been legal this wouldn't have happened.
People often think I am a social conservative because of many of my views. I'm not, I am a fiscal conservative and basically am not bothered by how someone lives unless I pay. With gay marriage I am not paying so it has no effect on me. People say "what about tax breaks for same sex couples" and my belief is I am opposed to any form of tax breaks for any couples, straight or gay because I find that a form of discrimination against those not married. I do have some social conservatve views but when it comes to gay marriage my only conservative view is that I think the churches should be allowed to marry who they want, but that the state allows anyone of legal marriage age to marry regardless of gender.

If we had a flat tax it wouldn't even be an issue.

That's not a bad thing but many people would complain because they don't get breaks. I am tired of people getting more in taxes that they paid in because they have kids.

Perry dropped out today and endorsed Gingrich.
Turns out Santorum won Iowa but only by a few votes so it was a virtual tie. He has no chance at the nomination because of his declared intention to turn America into a Christian theocracy.
The GOP continues to be a fractured party with no clear rallying point. Unless Romney picks an incredibly popular running mate, and/ or Obama messes up in some major way, Obama will have an easy reelection.
