There are some songs not to listen to when depressed. What are some truly depressing songs you have in your collection, or have heard in the past?
I have to say "Against All Odds" by Phil Collins.
There are some others, but that one... wow.

'Billy, Don't Be a Hero' is pretty sad, as is 'Cats in the Cradle' and 'Tell Laura I Love Her.'
Then there's music from the American Civil War era, which is loaded with sad songs like 'The Vacant Chair' and 'Tenting Tonight on the Old Camp Ground'.

"Everybody Hurts" by REM - although I absolutely love it.
"People Who Died" by Jim Carroll, if you listen to the beat it's fun. Listen to the words, depressing.

'Mad World' from the Donnie Darko soundtrack. Depressing, but I love it. It appeals to my melancholy side... I LOVE that song. I discovered it when I saw a video game commercial, tried to find it, found out it was on the Donnie Darko soundtrack, then I rented the movie. A perfect marriage of a song to a movie if there ever was one. |
