Just watched an old Duran interview on YouTube where they explain how LIYK was planned as a single. Anyone know why it was shelved?

I can't believe Hold Back The Rain wasn't a single! Rio was an album where any of the tracks could had been a single! I agree. Funny thing is, I've actually never really cared for "My Own Way" Go figure, it was the first single off thee album. (Granted, it was only meant to be a one-off single between the first two albums) I'm a weird one though. Of all the versions of the song. I prefer the Night Version actually.

LIYK is my favourite track of the album...its the one I listen to first when I put on Rio, then on to New Religion and The Chauffeur, Hold back and Last chance....I hardly ever listen to the actual singles of the album anymore (except for the night versions of those singles)

I love LIYN. One of the tracks which REALLY turned me on to DD. Nothing to do with Simon in the video, of course

LIYN is definitely one of my favorites. I love the longer version from the US Kershenbaum release. Thereās something very unique about the songāitās a ballad, but the drum rhythm is very fast paced with strong percussions. Itās got a lovely guitar riff as well, and Johnās use of the fretless bass. Thereās just no beating those early DD songs where all the instrumentsā roles are so well balanced. Each member has a strong presence and is important to how the song plays out. I absolutely LOVE in the outtro a bit where Roger does 3 repeated flourishes as Simon sings āā¦and youāre lonely in your nightmare let me inā¦ā Rogerās drumming through that whole outtro is simply fantastic!

I know that on the Australian Rio Radio special JT mentions that he thought EMI could release Last Chance on the Stairway as a single. But no mention on that for LIYN.

I also quite like the "doo-doo's" during the fade out, which sound poignant, in contrast to the uplifting "doo-doo's" at the end of Rio.
