I was discussing never heard Duran "Holy Grails" in the Ian Little Project thread, and Nick just gave a tease of more in this preview clip for the There's Something You Should Know BBC Special. He casually pops in an old demo cassette and we hear parts of VERY early demo versions of Faster Than Light and Is There Anyone Out There that I'm 99.5% sure have never been heard before! Hoping Nick opens the vaults for the 40th anniversary! The video is viewable even if not logged in to facebook, so if you don't have a fb account, no problem (although you'll have to click "not now" on the annoying popup that will appear trying to get you to log in or sign up)! www.facebook.com/BBCR2/videos/2051682318236930/?hc_ref=ARTPqUq84m2PWJFCEGBsY5c14Y1iXcNcXdI5iV6SVbx0GWLsvW07ReJmLEHq25j7GLE

Oh yes! That's the stuff I like! Check this out: i played it on one of my duran in review podcasts quite a while ago. so i guess you'll have to go and track it down. LOL. in the interest of laziness, here it is... figital.libsyn.com/webpage/duran-duran-in-review-october-1st-2010the parts you want to hear start at about the 15 minute mark.and i will pretty much guarantee that you've never, ever heard these before. enjoy! p.s. i honestly have no idea where these are from. they literally fell onto my desk a few years ago. i sat on them long enough to make sure the person who gave them to me wouldn't get in any shit and then i let 'em fly! Please Duran, let us hear the full demos!!!

I do in fact believe that Faster Than Light and Anyone Out There are identical takes to the ones on Nick's cassette (although better sounding and correct pitch - the car player in the BBC vid is a bit slow).

With backing tracks, instrumentals, monitor mixes and such there will be an absolute army of unreleased material No complaints here! I want them (I guess more than anything else)!

OK, I put those demos on to youtube, so its a bit easier to find them. Full credit is given for the source in the description. Thanks Derek!! I tried to make my own mix, taking out some of the low end range, but it sounded too tinny and crap, so I cut my mix from this video. So its just the podcast recordings put on youtube.

Thanks a ton!
Funny that Nick had the Nightboat intro notes descending in this first demo, only to decide to flip them and make them ascending for the album version and all subsequent live recordings (although the live part makes perfect sense to never change since it most certainly was a taped part).
