I would kill to hear that mixing board version of this video. It has to exist right? All the Wembley shows were recorded and mixed. Live in London is even on steaming now. Andy’s guitar adds so much to the song and it looks like it was very well received live.

And CB, with regards to that Simon quote, I misunderstood the context when I first read your pot before reading Cherry Lipstick's article. I thought he said that in response to what songs went on the album and which ones would be cut. But it makes sense that he would say that in response to their concert song list. I'm not excusing him for being crude or ungrateful to his fans, but I have to say I understand his frustration. You really cannot please everyone. And I can see the statement being said in a half joking manner, like you would with a buddy who's busting your chops. So maybe he said it at the end of an interview when he had let his guard down and got comfortable, or maybe it was said to a reporter whom he has known for years and felt like an old friend. Regardless, I get why you would feel a bit betrayed by him saying that so flippantly, but I can also see that it's the kind of thing where "you had to be there". Oh for sure Lou, like I said "There are some things you think, and some things you say". My issue is with Simon talking like that to somebody who is obviously going to report it. It doesn't matter whether Simon said it at the beginning of the interview when he was cold and bristly, or at the end of the interview when his guard was down and he had gotten comfortable. And if it was a reporter that he had known for years, then he would be confident enough to contact the guy and say "Hey mate that bit at the end about telling the fans to f___ off was just between you and me - do you think you could edit that for me"? The fact that it stayed in the interview, without Simon distancing himself from it, is very telling.
I don't care what Simon says to his his bandmates. Or his family. Or friends. Or anybody but me. If Simon is speaking shit, then I don't care and don't need to know about it. But when he gives an interview, and gives answers for the fans to read, then he is speaking to me. And to you. And to us! And pro-tip for Simon - don't ever say "f___ Off" to us regardless how much you mean it. Not if you want to keep fans and fancy cars and beautiful houses etc etc. Compare the following: 1) One day we won't play what everyone expects us to play. And afterwards we'll get people saying, 'you should have played that', all these really irate people, and we'll go, 'oh, f___ off, don't be so stupid, it's up to us what we play, and you damn well like it!' Or 2) We realise that a band with such a large body of work as Duran Duran will not be able to play everybody's favourite song at every concert. We also understand that people will be upset, or even angry at some song omissions from time to time. We can't please everyone all the time, but you know what - as long as most people leave the concert having had a great time, that is all we can hope for. Quiz time : Which of those quotes portrays Simon as an arrogant, uncaring, intolerant tosser, and which one as a level-headed, understanding, likeable person? Good manners are free, Simon me old mucker. Simon le Bon; Yasmin and I did one story for [the British tabloid] Hello! and realized very quickly that it was the kiss of death. It takes away all the mystique. I was trying to be a rock idol, and when people see you frying up an omelette in the morning, you lose all of that.

Total disagreement, its the best thing by far from the reformation, it might have given them a giant global hit too. It went down a storm at the reunion gigs i attended.

If you can find the San Antonio 2003 gig, there's a decent live version of Beautiful Colours from that show.

Even though a properly finished Beautiful Colors would have been a superb comeback single, everyone seems to forgot that they had another ace up their sleeve with Want You More.
Why this song wasn’t released to radio is mystery. The song might have gotten some spins from alternative radio at the time given its similarity in sound to then current bands like The Faint and Franz Ferdinand.
The entire project was mishandled from top to bottom. At least we got some incredible live shows out of this era.
