I only like Liberty the song and Serious is okay-ish (never been much of a ballad fan). VoS was the song that stopped me from being a superfan at the time, a period that lasted from 1986-1990. Its CD single was the last Duran item I bought for more than 10 years. A horrendous track that I have never really listed to ever since (I immediately skip it when it pops up in my playlist and luckily you do not hear it anywhere else, despite it being a single).

I'm one of those weird "Hothead lovers" as well. On side one, it's really only All Along The Water which is a little weak, and even that track has something fun and likeable about it, depending upon my mood.
Side two was noticeably weaker though, especially the last two songs, which really ruin the album for me.
Replace Venice Drowning and Downtown with a couple of other Liberty demos, and you have a much better record in my opinion.

I'd rather be stuck with Hothead on a Desert Island than Mars Meets Venus or Dancephobia - any day

I love the whole album and rather enjoy Hothead. It is fun. I also loved Downtown and Venice Drowning. I am actually rather fond of the whole B-side. VOS is the one song I sometimes skip, but i don't dislike it. I do prefer some of the mixes, though.

Liberty is still cool and very underrated, last great album till Pop Trash. Venice Drowning is dire though.

Liberty has the most songs never played live. I seem to remember talk of ‘My Antarctica’ being rehearsed for the Medazzaland tour, would’ve been great...
It’s really the only album they never toured, even Thank You got a mini tour in 1995...
So far only these songs were played live publicly...
Venice Drowning; opener at a few shows in 1989 Yo Bad Aziz; listed as being played as well, but uncertain what version First Impressions; a mainstay on the second TWA tour leg Serious; TWA tour a few times, MTV unplugged and on 2006 tour setlist Can You Deal With It; JT played it on his solo tour in 1998
Would really love to see them play Liberty, My Antarctica, Read My Lips... maybe at a ‘fan’ show someday...

Hothead is more listenable than Dancephobia or even Bedroom Toys. I still don’t enjoy it, and most of Liberty falls flat for me. Serious, Liberty, My Antarctica and Can You Deal With It are the only reasons I ever play this album.

It amazed me how differently we perceived each song. That's the power of music, there's no definite answer. I don't see the hate towards VoS. I loved the track when it was released, and I still like it. The chorus is weak, true, but I love the verses and the overall sound. My Antarctica was always perfect for my taste. A 10/10. Serious was another winner right from the beginning. Then, there were songs I really liked back in 1990, that I don't think aged well, or maybe I change my personal perspective, idk. Liberty was amazing to me back then, now i still enjoy it, but not as much as before (which by my ears was a 10/10!). Downtown was another one I like and still do, not perfect, but I didn't change my mind so much about it. The rest was always messy. Never loved the rest of the tracks, but I enjoyed some of them: Hothead, First Impression and Read My Lips. Those three now I think are mediocre tracks at best. In a good day, otherwise I will say I smell shit Then the descents into WTF territory: All Along the Water. Trash. Can You Deal With It. Utter garbage. maybe one of the worst songs of DD, Top 3 contender. Venice Drawning, I hated so much before, until I gave it a new listen a couple of months ago, and now, I can deal with this one.

I love Violence of Summer, but to this day I still have no clue what that song is about!! It’s my anthem for the Summer of 2020. It’s about the destruction, chaos, havoc, fallout and violence left in the wake of Coronavirus. It’s about sending the shit back to China (China, na China, na, na, na) with love.
