Kool Aid Tip #27...
When I taught High School, the kids used to "dye" their hair with Kool Aid. The loveliest blue and green shades.

Kool Aid Tip #27... When I taught High School, the kids used to dye their hair with Kool Aid. The loveliest blue and green shades. So true!!! My friends and I did it at summer camp in 1981....works great on blonde hair, I had pinkish hair and my friend was green. Our parents were a little shocked when they the picked us up at the end of the week . Plus we ruined our sheets....lol. edit: another interesting tip: some people use lemon koolaid (with out sugar) as a toilet bowl cleaner. Sprinkle it in the bowl, let it sit a spell, scrub and flush. I just brought this thread right to the gutter...lol.

I'm not a big splenda fan, though I'd rather use it then add an entire cup of sugar as suggested. either way-sour or sweet, it sounds like my eyes are going to bug out when I try some-

I'm always suprised what y'all didn't know about koolaid. Ok so who remembers wylers? (that was the po man's koolaid...lol)
Koolaid was good for:
Hair dye...especially black cherry clothing dye. black cherry, the blue one, grape and lime very good on cotton t-shirts I knew about the lemon one and cleaning toilets...(I grew up in the projects, how could I NOT know??)
we made our own playdough using flour/water/salt /cheap ass wylers....

When I was a kid, as a treat our mom would sometimes sprinkle flavored powdered Jell-O on vanilla ice cream. Very yummy! We tried it once with Kool-Aid, though, but since it wasn't sweetened...bleh!
Fun Movie Fax: The oft-changing Horse of a Different Color in the 1939 classic 'The Wizard of Oz' was colored with flavored powdered Jell-O. The biggest problem was that the horses (six different ones, all white before the Jell-O treatment) had a habit of licking much of the Jell-O off between shots. ;D

I grew up poor. ;D To be honest, it's been so long since I've had Kool Aid, that I don't even remember my favorite flavor. But you must always add plenty of sugar. Or Splenda, as the case may be.

Remember the Jello cakes? My mom made them all the time. Just poke holes in the top of a white cake with a fork, pour any flavored jello over it, let it set then frost it with Cool Whip. Perfect summer treat.
I remember Wyler's too, I think we had that just as much as Koolaid. Anyone ever hear of Schwan's? They may have been a midwestern thing, they came to your house with a freezer truck & you could buy frozen pizza, ice cream, burgers, fruit etc. They also had drink concentrates that were a kind of like Koolaid, only a little thicker & sugarier. You could buy it by the jug & just add water. They're still around, I see their trucks occasionally.
