Remember the Jello cakes? My mom made them all the time. Just poke holes in the top of a white cake with a fork, pour any flavored jello over it, let it set then frost it with Cool Whip. Perfect summer treat. I remember Wyler's too, I think we had that just as much as Koolaid. Anyone ever hear of Schwan's? They may have been a midwestern thing, they came to your house with a freezer truck & you could buy frozen pizza, ice cream, burgers, fruit etc. They also had drink concentrates that were a kind of like Koolaid, only a little thicker & sugarier. You could buy it by the jug & just add water. They're still around, I see their trucks occasionally. I luuuuuuuuuuuuved the pudding cake!! I actually looked for something online a while ago about that because I couldn't remember how it was done. We have Schwan's here in Florida. My SIL used them a lot!

I'm doing bad trying to sweeten this drink. Its been suggested I try crystal light. I don't want to spend $5 on Splenda that comes in 100 ct, packs. I'll have to give these drink mixes away, plus it was brought to my attention due to age "Why do you want to drink Koolade anyway?"
Crystal Light-discuss, and which are the best flavors?

Oh no... I buy Splenda in a 10 ounce bag, equivalent to a 5 lb bag of sugar. I can't remember how much it is, but it's not too crazy.
Crystal Light: Raspberrry is good. Also just tried some kind of grapefruit flavor. Unique and yummy!

I really need to hit a proper supermarket and check out all the options for flavor-water based drinks that last for weeks.
Did the grapefruit have orange mixed? I tried some sort of crystal lite slurpie that was a mixed orange/lemon one and wasn't too bad. I just haven't bought the drink in 20 years...
