Don't worry Tina, it's better when they get older, like this year Shona is in her second year of college and Cera is going into her first year of high school and all I have have to get is some lined paper, pens and pencils. OH and $50 to the high school for gym clothes and art supplies. It's not all that bad. I too remember when the school actually provided paper and pencils and stuff. Those days are so gone! Remember the ink on worksheets? The smell of them! It's a wonder we didn't all walk around high as kites when we were in like third grade!

I have just started buying back to school clothes and have spent $350 already. It never ends. That's another thing I don't have to worry about. My kids have their own jobs for one and also they don't need new school clothes. See, when they get older all that gets easier!

I have four kids and it's killing me. I don't go "school clothes" shopping because I don't have the grand at one time that it would cost to outfit them all. They get a bit at a time. My fave thing this year is baby wipes. Each one of the twins have to take in two boxes. Multipy two boxes by 25 kids. That's right ladies, 50 boxes. Who in shit uses 50 boxes of wet wipes??? What happened to good old water and paper towels?
I swear, Daisybell-land grows closer by the day.

Ok, that's nuts sending candy to school for the classroom. I think I definately would just not send it.
There was one more item that I had not gotten the other night. The school is specifically requesting " 2 containers of 16 PRANG watercolors". It notes on there to go to Michael's Crafts to get them. So I go there & they are already out. The lady points out where they'd be and the price tag says $10.99!!!!!!!!! WHAT?
I said why the hell do first graders need $10.99 watercolors? She said the only difference between the Prang & the Crayola is that the Prang was a bit more darker in their pigmentation. Ring-a-f___ing-ding.
So, since they requested 2 that adds up to oh, $21.98 for frikin watercolors for firstgraders. NO WAY. I'm not buying those.
They'll get Crayola and like it dammit!!! ;D
I just think it's insane to specifically request that for first graders. A specific art class when they're in middle school or high school but come on.....

Daisybell...
I'm not really buying school clothes for my son either. Some new shoes & some jeans but since it's still going to be hot I'm not loading up on winter clothes...little bit at a time.
And as for the wipes...we have to send 4 boxes!! Whatever!

Ya know, there really is little point in spending loads on clothes for rapidly growing, active kids. They usually come home with various stains and holes, or they outright lose them.
My son lost 4 jackets and 3 hats during his kindergarten year, and they never turned up in the lost and found.
It's astounding all the "lost" clothes that pile up by the end of the school year at my son's school. There are literally piles and piles of clothes that end up getting donated to various charities.

Well I looked at my son's supple list..
for the most part it's ok.. Notebooks, pens, pencils, ruler, crayons, bottle of glue, ect.
Some of things we already have like the 5 erasers.. Yes 5, 4 are for his homeroom and one for his french class.
Got some of the notebooks and duo tangs from a yard sale.
He needs only 1 glue stick, which I think I already have in my craft bin. Pencil case we already have too, kids scissors somewhere.
Only thing out of the ordinary are the 4 erasers and 30 pencils. Oh and 2 boxes of kleenex instead of 1.
We also have to send one cheque for $7 for the agenda.. Umm ok and another cheque for $7 for a recorder for music class.
Edit to add.
The only new clothes I'm buying are his shoes and gym clothes.. otherwise that's it.. He has too many clothes that it is and don't get the whole needing a new wardrobe every year.
