Some coloured vinyl arrived today - and the brilliant Elegantly Wasted, Michael’s final album with INXS. It means a lot as I got to see them perform live at Wembley, promoting this album, a couple of months before he died. So so sad, but happy memories of the night!

I love INXS! So many sad and happy memories surrounding this album.
I saw them live for the first and only time with Michael on this tour. I had some fan club connections so I also got to go backstage and talk with Andrew, Kirk and Jon. And Kirk, being a socially butterfly, invited all of us to the exclusive hotel bar, where I also briefly met Michael. I also ran into who I thought was Robert Plant...when I asked if it was him he gently touched me on the arm and said “no love,” but he was his doppelgänger and had an identical accent. It was a great night!

Tonight Django Django hosted a Zoom-meeting with a listening party of their new album that will come out tomorrow, so much fun! Imagine DD doing this!

What did everyone think of the post-Hutchense INXS singers? I really liked John Stevens, though I've only ever heard the one song they recorded with him (I Get Up). I was OK with JD Fortune. I know there were others that performed with them live, but I haven't heard/seen those performances.

Frankie Goes to Hollywood ‘Inside the Pleasuredome’ was a 30th anniversary celebration of the band’s brilliant debut album (they only made two). It’s a prime example of how a decent boxset SHOULD be curated and it seriously does justice to ‘Welcome to the Pleasuredome’ an album that rates in my all time top 10. I don’t think the Frankie’s themselves were involved in production. It was more Trevor Horn who got together with the now defunct Pledge Music. Pledge was one of the first companies to revive the vinyl (erm) ..revival. It was a fantastic concept whereby Pledge would feature potential projects and music buyers were encouraged to ‘pledge’ their commitment to purchasing at least one unit. Then when the project hit 100% it was all systems go! I don’t think Frankie had to wait long though for production to proceed! Of course Pledge went tits up a few years later, not fulfilling projects. Artists were left with no money and customers received zero merchandise. A big shame. This set is absolutely perfect in every way. It was limited to just 2000 copies and was priced at £85. It now sells for anything upto £400 for a sealed copy. I was fortunate to grab two copies at the time. It’s probably safe to say Inside The Pleasuredome was the best thing to have come out of Pledge - and I cannot see it being surpassed or improved upon. What really sold it for me were the 5.1 audios.

I managed to snag one on Amazon.uk for a VERY low price. This is what the amazon uk site showed in terms of what I was being charged (at the time): Order Summary Item(s) Subtotal: £53.33 Postage & Packing: £3.08 Total Before VAT: £56.41 VAT: £0.00 Total: £56.41 Grand Total: £56.41 So, I got it for $87!! Talk about deal (or a steal!). That's probably the cheapest I ever got a box set for, probably cheaper than the New Order box set for Music Complete.

Edge has his Jimi Hendrix vibe going halfway... Great show in Mexico City!
