U2 are a reasonably bigger band though I think that’s an understatement - u2 are leagues ahead of DD. After the Beatles and Stones possibly the biggest and most influential band of the last 40 years? Queen could have rivalled but they lost the USA and obviously lost Freddie On first listen the new u2 stuff was rubbish but it’s grown on me a fair bit U2 were great with their early stuff, Joshua Tree and Achtung...everything now sounds the same...they had to rerecord their classics? That's a cash grab imo...we don't always get the same sounding album from DD and that's what sets U2 apart from DD. I can't tell you what song is from what album anymore cause it all sounds the same. U2 live compared to Police as a 3 piece band is no comparison. POLICE live were light years ahead of U2...

U2 are bigger and thus it makes sense the album is charting. I’m not interested, as I consider myself more of a casual fan (even though I own most of their albums). I read a review that they’ve notably left New Year’s Day, Angel of Harlem, and Even Better than the Real Thing alone. Why mess with perfection?
Now if DD revisits songs, I am definitely taking a listen, but then I’m not just a casual fan. 🙂

Apparently, the Pet Shop Boys have a new "greatest hits" coming out. I guess it was about time for a new collection sine their last one came out in 2010 🙄. I wouldn't even call this a greatest hits collection, more like a "songs we've released as singles, minus some songs we released as singles" because some songs they did release are not on this compilation. The only plus I can see to this new compilation coming out is that their videos from 1985 - 2020 are on blu-ray - but even THAT is missing some music videos.
I wonder if we'll see another "hits" compilation from Duran Duran - and I'm talking about a worldwide release, not a release that was marketed towards and released in a specific country or countries. The last time there was a worldwide hits compilation was the Greatest which was released in 1998, so I guess we're due for a new one. I don't count The Essential Collection as that was initially released in 1999, then reissued in 2007 & 2010 in certain parts of the world. I'm talking about an "across the board every country gets this release" release.

I guess this is a lead singer thing...I know Simon gets nervous before each show..I hope he's in decent shape for this upcoming tour?
Good to see their fans butch about the set list too! Leaving tons of hits off and lots of new songs to the dissatisfaction of the fan base ...
Dave's fear and anxiety about the tour stems from the grueling schedule ahead. He mentioned that he avoids looking at the entire concert list and prefers to take it one step at a time.
Dave Gahan
➡️ We started by doing a short tour of North America to promote the album. Then in September, October and November we will do about 40 more shows…. I'm terrified!!! I don't like to open the full calendar. I say: 'What is that under there?' They show me the first sheet and I say, 'What's that [below]?' 'No, no, you don't want to look at it; you don't need to look at that right now.' When we see the two blank dates, that's important because on one of those blank dates we're flying somewhere, and hopefully the next blank date we'll have a day off.

I know if Duran put all the songs they released as singles in a similar package of songs I already own, I’ll be taking a hard pass. It’s a lot to fork out for a glossier version of childhood posters and a few bits of (insert colour) vinyl. You’d have to wonder how many units they’ll shift. Die hard completists fare only.

Of course a lot of casual fans who only know the hits want to just hear the hits. Can’t win. Harold

Yep. None of the band could pull that off.

Harold It's similar to DD, but I think DM so play more stuff from more recent (i.e. post-2000) albums - but they are committed to playing the key singles from Black Celebration through to Songs of Faith and Devotion. Imagine a DM concert without Never Let Me Down Again or Personal Jesus? Me neither. I do wish they'd do more stuff from the pre-Black Celebration era though, other than Just Can't Get Enough. Been listening to the new album in recent days. It's decent, but doesn't have anything to make it stand out from other post-Millennium albums they have made.
