Years ago, I always got assigned to a courthouse over an hour away. It was in a bad area, and I didn't have a good car. I told them I wasn't going as long as they kept sending me there. Then I met the jury supervisor for the county I then lived in. He had me transferred to a closer court. I don't believe in jury duty. I feel it should be voluntary. I tell this when I get sent. I also tell them that I hate the prosecutor for the county I'm now in. This so far has gotten me disqualified.

Wow. Well you won't be lying if you send it back saying not at this address. I've had police come to my door looking for a past resident who was supposed to show up for jury duty though. Yeah, I don't wanna lie. But I don't live with my mom & dad. The address is on my drivers license because when we first moved here it is where we were staying but now I don't live there so to say I'm NOT AT THIS ADDRESS would not be a lie....but if the cops did show up here (which I doubt) my dad would have to tell them where I do live....So I'm just gonna send it back I think. That's probably the best idea, then if they DO find you, you can try the alternative and call before the date you have to show up and see if they can just have you disqualified before you get there. Good luck!

Well also, Hubby works for the prison system now, so that disqualifies me straight away. But I don't want to go through the whole process.

I would tell them that first when I called, I would think they'd just tell you not to show up. They will probably just update the database with your change of address when you change your license to reflect where you live now, and pick someone else in the interim once the letter is returned.

No, I'm not picky, I wondered if it was a phrase I didn't know yet.... English is not my mothertongue. And I can't really answer since we have different laws here so it would be useless to you. Oh okay. Sorry. Heehee How do the laws work in Italy with the courts and stuff. Do you know what Jury Duty is?

I know what Jury Duty is, but I don't even know if it exists here. If it does, it's not very common. As far as I know if you belong to a religion that does not allow something, you can turn down such things/get yourself removed from lists where they pick people, and don'thave to deal with it ever again. (sorry, that's an awkwardly constructed sentence, I hope it makes sense) P.S. If I wanted to pick on you I'd have pointed out it's waste, not waist... ;D Well, last time I told them that and no one took note of it. I guess it's just to big of a system to do so.

Is it regular jury duty or part of a sitting group that needs to be available for various misdemeanor trials at a moment's notice for a 2 week period (which I did)? Here at least, the only people who got out of it were those who would not be reimbursed by their employer.
