Has a celebrity ever surprised you?

Yeh I was totally surprised as well. He said his father did "light opera". Where did you hear him?

I saw him at The Fillmore in San Francisco with Davy Jones. I had seen him before, but I was a stupid teenager then and didn't realize how good he was.

I loved the Patti LaBelle story. Thanks for sharing that one.

Oh, here's a good story. I went with two of my friends to see Adam Ant back in 1983. I had been a big Adam and the Ants fan, but my friend DeeDee was was really into Adam big time. We were talking to somebody at the show who said she was going back stage. DeeDee gave her a note to give to Adam or something with her address on it, I can't quite remember (age, you know). Well, the next show Adam was performing and fell off the stage and hurt himself and he landed in the hospital. A few days later, DeeDee got a letter from him - I guess he had nothing better to do in the hospital than reply to her. In the letter, he thanked me and my other friend personally for being fans. He drew his little ant symbol with the heart on the letter. I will try to dig it up and scan it for you. I hadn't thought about this for years.

Went to a Fleetwood Mac show and didn't realize how good a guitarist Lindsey (sp) Buckingham is... LOVED that show. He played solo for about a good 20 minutes or so. Just he and his guitar.

Duran surprised the heck out of me (and lots of other folks) when they played 'House of the Rising Sun' at VooDooFest in New Orleans last year. Definitely wasn't expecting that one!
