For me it was a little painful to hear VOS after all the other great songs; it feels like The Wild Boys on helium and doesnt work for me. I much prefer the songs Liberty and Serious, and of course My Antarctica.
But it was a great reminder of the Sugar Shack story; which I think John mentions in his book. I put the possible date into the fandom timeline for Oct 6th 1982, although I'm going to go back to the book in a moment and see if anything else turns up. The way I heard it, someone threw a chair over Roger's head, hence "breaking heads".
As for a new single sneak peak, I'm not holding my breath. If it happens it's a bonus.

No problem. You must be in the know! Lol. At least I’m able to engineer a discussion. Looks like humble pie for tea - not for the first time. And how did you get first dibs on a listen?
i ve managed to download the whole show from a dd facebook fan page ,about two months ago
Just to let you know I’ve spoken to Kellie Redmond the programme maker. She confirms that the BBC recorded the same interview for both the BBC and Pandora but both will be broadcasting different versions - so I’d recommend listening again next week just in case you might miss something.

It was ok... There will always need to be gaps in any show, for a group whose career has spanned (dare I say it) 40 years, but I always come away from these shows craving more information! I know I'll never get it, but I would love a more in depth interview on everything, the singles, albums, tours, the videos, splinter bands etc. I lived through their success, right from PE in 1981, but with no social media nor internet then, the only information we got was through magazines such as Smash hits, so I still have many questions.
I also found most of the retrospective looking back at the tracks, to be very contrived and pretentious. Was that really what they were thinking at the time of writing, or does it just sound good now, with the benefit of hindsight?
- The show reminded me of what a great track Friends Of Mine is, particularly the start of it! A great tour opener!
- An interesting fact about the choice of UOTS being the first track from the SATRT album, as it was the only one that was actually finished at that time. (I finally realised what I don't like about the track, particularly live. It's the sax. It can sound off tune, and much too loud in the mix)
- Was there any consideration given to releasing another track from SATRT, even to take advantage of the success of The Reflex in Spring 84, to keep them in the spotlight until the release of the Wild boys in October?
- The look back at ASWI was a bit strange.
- There's also a fantastic song somewhere with My Antarctica, but not in its current format. Get rid of the 'piano' thingy, replace it with an orchestra, tone down Simon's vocals (sound too whiney) and have some backing vocals with his, and you have a hell of a Duran song (apologies for the poor explanation! I can assure you it's all in my head, but I cannot get it out right! 🤣)
I'm looking forward to part 2, particularly as Skinburn has suggested that there may be additional information, but if they are to premiere the new track, I really hope it's not a slow one, or a ballad! We all need something to cheer us up, particularly after what the world has gone through over the last 14 months, so please something upbeat!!! I really couldn't handle another SENM....

"The juxtaposition of electronics and the 'rock riff' really showed what we were trying to achieve in the sound."
Oh Nick, wasn't that the truth.
If only it still was.

Still, I’m hoping they’ll reignite that mantra for DD15. I’m also hoping they’ve listened and taken heed from their critics (who actually do care!) that their music needs more depth in order to be sustainable. Only time will tell if lessons have been learned - and that time is now or never.

I have to say my favourite part was hearing about my super blues Chelsea FC fans wanting to smash the granny out of the Duranies down the road from Stamford Bridge, that did make me chuckle.
The Chelsea Headhunters of the 80's were probably a bunch not to be messed with... those poor Duranies.

Thank you! This is definitely a slightly different DD40 than was played on Pandora in the U.S.
