10 bucks isn't really a lot. chocolate martinis are 10 bucks at Top of the Hub, so I can kind of relate. Since it got brought up I asked my contact who said not to worry, as an employee, you're taken care of. sweet! That said, I don't think I'll have sticker shock. ;D But since I'm actually there to work, I doubt I'll be drinking much. I think they counted on that. I don't know how many will be on this cruise, but from what I seen of the schedule, there's going to be quite a few conferences per day. (in other words I may have very little shore time if any ) -BOS

Re: the drinks, they can be expensive but if you're careful you'll do OK. Since you'll be on a work trip, it might not matter, but both Carnival and RC do a "Drink of the Day" which you can purchase at the poolside bars for around $3.95. The kicker is, you have to be able to choke it down, and you'll generally have to get off your lounger to go get one. The pool boys that circle around with the drinks only carry the souvenir glasses with the $5.95 versions in them, cause they want the bigger tip. I've never taken the "welcome aboard" drink, though it wouldn't surprise me to find they were that much.
I voted for the cootie-B-gone spray. Some of those lounge chairs are downright scary. As far as the stomach bugs, it's not uncommon for it to happen, but it generally will strike around 100-150 people. Which sounds like a lot until you realize there are probably around 2000 on your boat. Not bad odds. Just be diligent about hand-washing.
Finally, I don't need them, but I've heard good things about the patches worn behind the ear for seasickness. If you think it might be an issue, ask your doctor for a prescription before you leave. You can get them on the boat, but you'll pay out the nose for them.
Have a great time! I'm going on one in October and I can't wait. I love it.
