I made a point of my last interaction with you to be courteous and respectful. I took my time to explain really carefully about why I am not keen on this album *overall*. But by god, you really are contentious. Yes, listen carefully now: the band have always said they wanted to work with Moroder. *That* is called ticking boxes. Now, whether or not it is a success remains to be the opinion of the listener. Not whether it suits YOUR agenda. Now just please allow others to form their own opinion.
You don’t see it as ticking boxes? That’s absolutely fine by me. But we’ll have to agree to disagree. Give it a try before you burst a blood vessel. 😉👍
Not quite sure that’s all just ticking boxes
I mean here’s how I know, see and get DD SB, which may possibly be radically different to how you know them.
FACT
The first ever song DD EVER played live on stage in 1980 was a Donna Summer G Moroder produced track !!!
(so IMO this collaboration HAS to be way deeper than just ticking a box) thereby in the early early days DD opened their set with a G Moroder production, this to me as a dd fan since Feb 81 suggests it’s got to be deeper than just ticking a box and perhaps there’s the likelihood of some profoundness evident.
FACT
Not only has the movie Midnight Express have an indelible impression on DD but so did it’s soundtrack which was produced by GM The Chase !!!
If you watch the Boys On Film/A night with DD doco, you will see that it’s all there, I highly recommend it, if you haven’t or can’t seem to remember
I think it was only a matter of time then that they did work with GM rather than a tick the box thing because a tick the box thing could be applied to anything anyone plans, so please don’t take any offence
Eg
was planning to work with Colin T a ticking the box exercise & why or why not then?
was planning to work with Alex Sadkin ticking the box exercise & why or why not then?
was planning to work with Nile R ticking the box exercise & why or why not then?
was planning to work with Mark R ticking the box exercise & why or why not then?
Just asking, that’s all
I can only speak for myself and wouldn’t consider dd ticking the box with any producer simply because I don’t like a song and/or album, IMO that would make me selfish to an extent
Lastly after having said all that when I listen/absorb the incredible Beautiful Lies not only do I hear each member shine but essential GM, a little nod to Japan and Blondie too as well as a clever lyric (nothing new for DD) and one pleasant melodic sound as piece of music as whole which frankly I can’t decide whether it’s ultra ultra modern or ultra ultra circa 1978 thru to 1981.
but that’s just me and how my ears process all that I hear in combination with what I know of dd as an educated DD enthusiast since February 1981
& THAT’S simply how I know my/our band who happen to be called DD !!!
😉👍
