2 plus years later, FP the album holds up better than any other new DD release in the 21st century.
It does not have any dated electronica (Paper Gods), distracting guests (RCM) forced nostalgia (AYNIN) or deeply embarrassing songs that should have never seen the light of day (Bedrooom, Danceophobia). Those first 4 songs are their strongest run since their 80s classic albums.
2 years later, I only find Tonight United and More Joy slightly grating and unworthy of behind included with the other songs.
Laughing Boy is the unsung hero of the set and Future Past has been the biggest grower.
Top 5 all time DD album IMHO.

Top:Wing More Joy Future Past Laughing Boy All of You Anniversary Still great:Nothing Less Falling Five Years Good:Invisible Give It All Up Beautiful Lies Tonight United Invocation Velvet Newton Actually dislike:Hammerhead When I assimilate these songs to my DD favorites playlist, the “Good” batch will probably not make it in. The “Still Great” batch is right on the edge, but leaning towards “Top” so those will probably make it into the playlist. The last 2 of DD’s albums have been solid for me. I can listen to AYNIN and PG all the way through without feeling compelled to skip any tracks. I don’t actively dislike any of the songs on those albums (not counting the bonus songs). FP ALMOST made it, but I really don’t like Hammerhead. Really really. I don’t think I’ll ever have the desire to listen to it ever again. I don’t HATE it, but I also don’t want to make myself hate it by listening to it one too many times in the hopes that I will change my mind. However, I will still put FP as an overall winner, based on the strength of all the other songs which I think are all for the most part, great. Definitely in the top 6-8 albums for me. With the exception of Hammerhead, I can listen to the whole album all the way through, which is a great feat for me. I keep saying it: 3 in a row! That hasn’t happened since Notorious for me! I pretty much still feel the same as when I wrote this in November 2021. Wow has it been that long already? Wing for me is still far and away the best thing they have created in decades. It's easily hovering around the top of my list for all time greatest DD songs. Maybe my "still greats" category of Falling, Nothing Less and Five Years have all crept up to the "top" category above. There is one thing that bothers me about the album as a whole but I can't seem to put my finger on it. I want to say that the album feels a little disjointed in the songs, like small groups belong on different albums from different time periods. But it's really not that, because if anything, it's consistent to a fault. Maybe that's what it is. It's almost like some songs were wrestled into fitting into the FP "sound", but would sound better if they were allowed to have developed more freely without the constraints. For example, I think All of You could do with some rhythm guitar (at the very least), but because they seemingly (I have no proof) established a "no/minimum guitar" rule, the song feels like it's lacking guitar. However, the song is really great as it is regardless so I can't really say either way whether guitars would really add anything to the song. I almost wish some DD fan out there would add some guitars to some of these songs just so we could all hear what that would sound like! One other thing. Velvet Newton definitely should be at the beginning of the album and not track 6 (between Future Past and Beautiful Lies). It totally wrecks the flow there. Anyway, in the end it's really a minor quibble for me since I really do enjoy the album. I said it back in November '21, three great albums in a row!

I agree with most although I really like Hammerhead and its groove and I think the unique Coxon guitar parts (almost sounds like a violin or something) in All Of You make up for the lack of rhythm guitar (and gives it more space for the cool bassline). Tonight United could use some extra heavy guitar as well, there was a guy who did his own great guitar addition on yt directly after the song's release:

I daresay it almost sounds like something Andy would have done!
