GREAT STUFF
No.2, finally getting credit when it’s due, well deserved
How slow on the uptake were/are the critics/industry and I hate to say it the non dd faithful
Just wondering what bassist got No.1
Love how Bernard Edwards prior to his passing gave his bass (which he recorded Good Times) to JT
Just wondering does an isolated New Religion bass part exist

JT is a great player for sure, but I don’t think he’s better than:
Michael League Stuart Zender Paul Turner Pino Palladino, Nick Beggs Jaco Pastorious.

JT is a great player for sure, but I don’t think he’s better than: Michael League Stuart Zender Paul Turner Pino Palladino, Nick Beggs Jaco Pastorious. Hmmm 🤔 the award was for best bass “part” I believe & my god ain’t RIO one great bass part or is that several great bass parts? I mean the gears in which the song travels within is phenomenal especially when taking into account that JT switched to playing bass only a few years earlier what JT does have over those other bass players mentioned is the enDURANce to a) stick with a band, b) create many LPs ‘together’ with the same hearts he started out with c) be innovative with his bass playing recordings to the extent where it satisfies/challenges him rather than create the same bass parts over and over again or worse simply be a session player with many artists thereby playing not your own but other peoples bass parts which others wrote. so yeah I agree he may not be the best bass player in the world 🌎 (I’d give that award to Bernard E) but JT created his own luck and thru thick n thin has thankfully (for us) has stuck with it. I imagine he’d be somewhat embarrassed to simply end up being a “session bass player” after his 40 year DD experience and indeed we’re counting the years…………….well I am anyway. at least JT has an audience to this day who come to listen to him and his band play as opposed to have an audience attend hear him play for another artist and not play his own compositions.

That’s funny
On the music radar list
Chic’s 1978 Good Times is 10th
and
Queen’s 1980 Another One Bites the Dust (which is a rip off of Bernard’s GT bass line is 4th, hardly an original bass line
Hilarious in fact

Some of these polls were hijacked by fans. Whilst John is a fantastic bassist and does indeed receive respect from a lot bassists, he is not the best. He’s not in Bernard Edwards league neither that of Jaco Pastorius or James Jameson.
