The covers they did with Andy are quite outstanding though: Fame, Make Me Smile & Instant Karma... maybe add Get It On & Harvest For The World which are also superb. Spellbound should be a major highlight based on the live version. I adore Fame. The first time I heard it was when I bought one of my very first collectibles in 1990 - the Japanese Nite Romantics Double CD. That’s when I went crazy on DD. I remember the Liberty Japanese Double coming out the same year. So yes, it’s possible. But my expectations are still not great.

Girls On Film is also a cover, at least for Andy & Simon who were reinventing the Andy Wickett version to stunning effect.
That Nite Romantics CD set is one of the best things ever released... what a collection!

Still nothing official yet for new DD album..wow didn't know other artists like Aerosmith and Van Halen dropping some greatest hits. Most extensive list I've seen so far... consequence.net/upcoming-releases/

Fair enough SB, I think I agree on most of your points of view. I'm not a huge fan of Future Past either, although I do like Paper Gods. There are two things that puzzles me with people wanting a return to roots / guitar based album. The first one being that the band released AYNIN and it seems fans were not satisfied with that (or they want AYNIN part II). And the other one being that the band themselves are not interested in a guitar based album, and its hardly a secret. The next DD proper album could even be more electronic based than FP. I think that the only feasible scenario where they release a more organic sound album is if they release Reportage (I think it's possible given that AT is in good terms with the band now and with better health) I think that the only feasible scenario where they release a more organic sound album is if they release Reportage (I think it's possible given that AT is in good terms with the band now and with better health) How many on here will then complain about the outdated lyrics by Simon from Reportage? I don't think that would be the case. Simon lyrics are pretty ambiguous so most of them sounds fresh to this day. I can't imagine SLB singing something like "Destroyed by Blackberry, I hate to bite the hands that feed me..."

Agree Who knew what a blackberry was in 92 when TMI was written (should slb be referring to the phone?) which indeed he’s not coz it doesn’t make sense anyway re dds carer/rise to fame and if slb took a pun, well slb would have the ability to foresee the future a decade later I also have a hard time thinking that the lyrics to reportage are outdated when nobody on this board has heard the actual poetry put to music (heard the reportage LP) if anybody has? well they’re not willing to elaborate so it stands as if they haven’t If the lyrics to the songs on reportage themselves have been read/made available, again I don’t know how they can be outdated considering they’re capturing a moment in time circa when they were written 2005/06 good music like a good book, good movie and/or classic good music, transcends time to an extent it would be like saying OW is outdated coz Simon refers to the gulf war in the songs last verse and this would make no sense whatsoever to me or the imagery to the HLTW clip is outdated coz no artist is making clips running around in a jungle these days regardless the imagery in HLTW just as the Indiana J movies captures a moment in time and is there for timeless and thereby transcends time that’s how my brain is wired anyway

Just watched one of the supposed covered tracks from the project, on Top of the pops 1978, on BBC4 there -Supernatue by Cerrone. A fantastic performance by Legs and Co actually. It really was. Well worth a viewing. I love this choice from Duran. It's a track that I am just too young to remember being in the charts. I can remember it, but had forgotten about it, and probably forever if it hadn't been for media such as YouTube before Duran played it in recent concerts. Love TOTP on a Friday on bbc4. You see so many gems. This particular episode had a good mix of music.

I’ve expressed doubts about the timeline for the Halloween release, but there’s really no sense in all the negativity regarding what the music may sound like. I think some here sound like past media critics of the band, who had their mind made up in advance about how a new DD release was going to sound and then reviewed the album accordingly.
DD are never going back to the WC days. I adore TWA, but that era was a moment that will not be repeated. As long as DD are around in some form and releasing new music, I’ll be there to listen to it … with an open mind.
