I had to put my beloved cat to sleep today! We've had her for 14 years, and she's just deteriorated to the point where we can't let her suffer any more; but I still feel like crap!! I'm going to miss her SOOOOO much! Why do you always feel lonely when doing something like this . . . like you're the most horrid person in the world for loving an animal so much that you don't want to see it suffer?

Losing a pet is painful. I had to put my beloved dog to sleep. I still miss her two years later. *hugs*.

I'm so sorry Tin.
I know how you feel. I had to make the same decision 3 years ago. For a long time I felt like I was the most awful person in the world. I still miss my little friend.
In a while you will realize that you have made the right decision and I think every cat would want a mum like you who knows what's best for them.
Take care!!

You're not wrong at all, I'm trying to get my mom to go ahead and put her cat down, he's also deteriorating really badly. We all love him to no end, which is why it hurts so much to see him like this. I'm very sorry for your loss. )))HUGS(((

I came home last April, and my 14 yr old dog couldn't move from the waist down. The whole family just sat there for a while, hugging her and crying. Then we realized she shouldn't have to suffer, so we drove her to the vet and he put her to sleep in my arms right in our truck (so we could bury her at our home). I think of her every day, I dream of her often, and I still expect her to be here when I come home or when I get up in the morning. She was with me every day since I was 22. That is something that isn't easily let go of. My thoughts are with you today, because I'm sure it is especially difficult for you while you still question whether or not you did the right thing. Please know that you made a very loving decision, without malice, and if there were anything else that could have been done, you would have done it. Let yourself cry, a lot! It is times such as these that we realize what amazing gifts we are given when we allow a furry friend into our lives. Bless your heart

I am writing this with tears in my eyes - my heart aches for you and your loss. You absolutely did the right thing and it's never easy. Know that your kitty is in a better place and thanking you for taking her out of her misery. Cry and then smile as you remember all of the wonderful things about her and all of her happy times. Hang in there.
BIG HUGS!!!!

It's never easy losing a pet especially when you have to make a decision but you did the right thing by your cat and I'm sure she's very grateful to you in ending her suffering.

Tin, you have my sympathies on your loss.
My kitty Jennie developed cancer of the jaw. She was otherwise healthy but the vet told me that eventually the tumor would make her jawbone brittle and it would break; there were only two options, amputate her jaw or wait until she could no longer eat and then put her down.
Amputating her jaw was out of the question, so I took care of her until the tumor got too large and she stopped eating; then I found a vet who did in-home euthanasias and he came to my apartment and put her to sleep. It was heartbreaking and I still miss her (she was very young - only a couple of years old), but I know I did the right thing and she had a good life.
I'm sure your kitty is grateful for all the love you gave her, and for having the courage to let her go when it was time. {{{{{hugs!}}}}}

I too had to do this a few times. The pain you feel is terrible. Know in your heart you did what was best and I am sure you have a million funny memories to help you through this.

I'm so sorry for your loss because I've been in the same situation which happened 10 years ago. In Summer of 1997 we had our dachshund named JoJo put down due to kidney failure. ((HUGS))
