@ somenewromantic I hear ya... My first baby boy was 9 lbs. 8 1/2 oz. My total weight during that pregnancy was 152. I looked like I was carrying twins! But I managed.... and now at nine years old, he is a stick. All legs and arms! You would never know he was a chunky ( ) baby! Wendy LOL........yeah, I weighed about 160--relatively tall stick woman with a big baby belly. I remember the day Christopher was born, there were 8 boys born that day, and he was the biggest (there was a set of triplets born that day). The next day, there was one girl born--all day--and she outweighed all those boys! I remember that I had black eyes--broken blood vessels in my eyes; it took about an hour to get all the tangles out of my hair, and it was about 3 weeks before I thought I might live.

Ow. And that comes from a woman that has birthed 4 babies, from 8 1/2 pounds to 10 pounds. No gestational diabetes. No C-sections. (Hey - I didn't say no pain meds!) And for those of you afraid to give birth, remember that's a VERY LARGE baby. I'd be happy to give you my "happy baby birthing" experience stories if you ever want to hear them ;D LOL!I know about the BIG baby birthing thing. Our second was a bit over 10 lbs(and I'm not a big person to begin with) and I did it with no pain meds.To top it off he had this huge round head ;D,luckily he's grown into it*LOL*.Numbers 1 and 3 we're a modest 5.5lbs and 8lbs.All is all I have had some amazing birthing experiences, and we even video taped them all(of course I have yet to watch them--not your typical popcorn fare )

Geez I feel for all you moms out there - the pain you take in the pelvic area - and that sciatica nerve - I think each mom after delivery should get a massage - for all you have to go through....!

**reads story and sweats** I can't imagine. With the twins I DID carry 14 pounds of baby but thank God there were two. It was a little eaiser to pass. **grin**
The pregnancy, with that much baby and all of the other stuff that's swimming around, was REALLY long and hard.

Let me just say: BACK LABOR IS A beeaatch!!!! And Mochamom, you are a bigger person than me. I warned everyone in the family that any cameras in the hospital room while I was in labor would result in a broken (as in shattered to smithereens) camera. No pictures were taken until enough time had elapsed for me to feel civil, and the baby cleaned up........

BACK LABOR IS A beeaatch!!!! OMG! THAT is much more painful than regular labor pains. Epidurals are a gift to a woman with back labor.

First Labour: 5 1/2 hours, pelvic pain, baby born on its side, 11 stitches, 7lbs. Second Labour: 5 hours, backache labour, swearing at large portrait of Liam Neeson(don't ask), 9lbs 1oz, no stitches. Third Labour: Same labour pains as first, with added sciatica. Baby born on its side, no stitches, 9lbs 8ozs. The best contraceptive ever.
