I take pilates every Thursday night. I really like it. Thursday is my gym night. I will work out on the stairmaster for about 30 minutes, then I have an hour class of basically squats, then an hour of pilates. It makes me feel like I am at least doing something to get into shape.

I would try the pilates again, I don't completely understand the proper body positioning yet, but it does seem to feature good relaxation stretches.
yes, I agree any attempts at fitness cannot hurt to get in the habit of doing.

At home, I have 2 lbs of fudge and 3 dozen cookies yelling my name. I told my MIL not to bring any sweets for Xmas but she does anyway. My hubby will be annoyed if I throw it all away. I figured another week of torture then the goodies should be too stale to eat. I've been purposely not wrapping anything up so they will dry out. Unfortunately, I think I will eat a dried out piece of chocolate fudge if need be...LOL!

starry - what an evil mil!!! just do this: I don't exercise due to time constraints so my only hope is eating. I've dropped 2 of the 5 pounds I need to lose that came on with Thanksgiving. I just need to keep chanting, stay away from Coldstone, stay away from Coldstone!

I'm starving, so I need to go get a healthy snack...even though those freaking cookies are calling out to me. I have a buttload (pun intended) to lose and I have to be a good girl.

mmmm, Jen 68. I need to start munching on those and cashews again. It's hard when you're potty-training a kid who wants an m&m when they go on the pot!

are any of you adding exercise? also when you feel the need to nibble, have some water. you might be thirsty but your brain is confused. I also recomend waiting an extra 15 minutes before diving in to your craving.
I find when I eat bad carbs I crave them even more. try eliminating white breads and pasta if you haven't already. Take your family for a walk, everyone gets benefit from it. also there is a study that shows walking increases brain power.
starving only makes you fat. eat smaller meals more often. (handful size every 2 or 3 hours and watch the weight drop off like magic.)
good luck to you all.

I am serious this time about my new year's resolution to get fit! I am proud of myself... in the last four days (started my diet 4 days ago) the only lil' cheat was a fig newton. Just one though. Unfortunetly they are 70 calories a piece! Wendy Get the multi-grain ones. On Weight Watchers, you can have three atr a time, and I think it comes to like, 1 or 2 points for all three of them together

Ruth - that sounds like a good idea. I have to get my diet back under control. My butt is getting bigger again. Luckily, my boot camp program is starting up again next month. It's an hour extensive class three days a week at 6:30 in the morning. I can't wait to get back to it.
