Hope more than a few folks from dd.com come here... I'm gonna miss that place.
I didn't post all the time but I did lurk daily. I probably won't even go to the official site every day anymore.
Ah well... Hi everyone!

Not quite sure what DD is up to with all this... I doubt they'll get many new DDM members! And if they think that a new message board won't have the same problems the old one did, they're in for a rude awakening. Of course, it's possible, but they could have enforced stricter rules, etc., without closing down the entire board.
I'm finding myself getting rather angry with DD, and at the moment am having a difficult time even wishing them success with the new album... which is very strange!
That being said, I like it here. We get avatars and signatures, pretty colors and the threads have jump numbers on them!! So yeah, this could work...

That will be what I miss most, saltysmile - it seemed that someone on that board posted hot news quicker than anywhere else.
And I got a heads up on some cool downloads as well.
Glad to see some of the folks that have hopped over here!

My feelings about DD in the last few months have changed drastically. They fired Andy (at least that's the way I read it...I can't prove or disprove that) and now they are closing their free message board (which has been coming since ddm opened btw). They treat some fans very well and others like crap. I've seen too many of my friends hurt by various band members at various times for the dumbest things on the face of the earth. This only goes to prove that my feelings about DD for most of 2006 and now into 2007 are correct. They are in this for the money and not for the love of the music.

I find it quite exciting if in fact there is a new message board and website in the works. If it offers more to us and is free - sounds good to me. I don't blame the guys for wanting a change - and wanting a more updated website and board. Many of us just moved to this new board in a matter of hours - and alot seem quite happy. This board offers us alot more features. So I don't see much of a difference if and when DD opens their new site and board. It will be a change, but it could be beneficial to them as a band and to us as fans. Just my opinion

I can also understand if DD wanted to change things, but why taking away something that is rather popular after all. I am guessing they are going to re-work the website much like INXS did around when they released Switch. Before it was great, and now you have to pay for more or less everything. I actually think that bands should have good websites with lots of information (incl. a message board) for free for their fans.

I see a few comments on here as if DD.com is going to completely re-launch the board. What I read was that they were dismantling it for good.
Did I miss something?

Back in August a news brief was put on the front page of DD.com which talked about Secondlife and -
The project, which launches officially later this month, is the centre-piece of a new online strategy for the band designed by the London-based 3003 Group, Duran Duran's strategic marketing agency, which will also include a one-stop, global mobile downloads shop and a new, state-of-the-art band website, in the run-up to the release of their upcoming Epic Record's album in the New Year.
I know this was August and I know all about "durantime" and who knows if this is still true - my guess and hope is that it will be with the forthcoming album in May. Like most official band websites I also imagine it will include a message board/forum. If this all pans out - I think it could be quite interesting. Until then, at least we have this board (Thanks to Mark and Carrie) - which offers alot more than DD.com's board does.
