I can't believe someone thinks Spy could have anything to do with DD's remixes or music, or would care...LOL

Well, obviously I meant if it was 1984 and he was still their manager. These days I'm sure he couldn't care less!!

I'm pretty sure Spy Matthews was just their tour manager back then. He didn't manage the band. That was the Paul and Michael Barrow
ETA Sorry, I just reread your post. You did say that. My mistake.

Well I don't think that she's not qualified. She used to manage Aerosmith during the late 80's and 90's and they were still huge then. She managed a lot of other popular acts before DD, though I can't remember them right off hand. I heard that she has dialed back her work load when she had a kid, so now all she manages is DD and maybe some small acts. She may or may not be the problem, but I think this is more of a label/PR thing than just her.
Its too bad The Berrow Bros. don't still manage them. From what I hear they were like a mafia and I bet DD would be on that little independent label called "Tritec"......

So THAT'S what Spy would say! gosh, I'm glad we cleared THAT up.
No promotion??? perhaps I dreamt the TV spots such as (A&E, American Music Awards, Biography, Good Morning America, multiple Entertainment Tonight spots, Extra, Entertainment Weekly stream... to name a few) along with some big name mag features, loads of articles and good reviews (some from outlets who have barely given the band a glance). Is there need for improvement in some areas? sure. When is there not? However, it's going to take a lot more than firing one person to possibly get this band back on top and get the general public to care.
Dire??? nah, I don't see the band members in a dire end all situation, I see a few fans who are clinging to that, but not the band. If they want to continue on making music, THEY WILL, as they have repeatedly. Bury the dead horse.

From what was said in another board, Aerosmith let her go because she was "NOT aggressive enough"!
So what does that tell you about her?
Yeah I also understand that the blame should not entirely be placed on her shoulders. I also blame the record execs for the lack of promotion!
Even after that from what I've learned from this band though the years--they like to do things themselves and not hed some advice. SO I guess all I can say is DON'T beeaatch when things don't go our way...you wanted to do things yourselves and only have yourselvs to blame!!

I was in the middle of going through the inital post line by line when Firefox decided to lock up and I lost everything. So the short answer is: How can you lay everything at Wendy's feet? If Sony has decided not to promote Duran Duran how is that Wendy's fault? Sony decided/suggested to scrap Reportage and bring in two of the hottest producers in to record with them.......is it Wendy's fault that by the time the album was released the Timber/Timba sound has been played to death? The band is currently on tour and has done a few cool things on this tour......the Louvre and the Broadway shows and hopefully the Mark Ronson performance will be interesting. There has been promotion on X factor (despite it's lameness), Private Sessions, the debut of Falling Down on Yahoo! and there has been articles in the press. I've just read what others have written and they are basically making the same points I wanted to make. Duran Duran is an 80's band they are never going to escape that label. They are also never going to be as big as they once were. For whatever reason this album just hasn't caught people's attention. I don't think that's anyone's fault, it's a combination of many things. I also think something Nick Rhodes said in a interview is very true. www.duranduran.com/wordpress/?p=13990“We don’t ever go anywhere actually. We’re always here, always making records,” keyboard player and co-founder Nick Rhodes explains. “Sometimes, the audience takes a vacation.”
