Actually, wasn't it discovered that the reason Andy wasn't in NY for the Timbaland session was because Wendy didn't get his work visa renewed? I'm going to go out on a limb and say they probably weren't big fans of each other...

Is Wendy cutting edge enough? Is she agressive enough? Is she devoting enough time and attention to the band? Is she just a mouthpiece for the band? Are the band listening to her or do they blow her off? The contests are lame. The meet and greet packages are overpriced and lame. The Mothershit needs revamping. The Coma needs redesigned to be more user friendly for the casual fan. The publicist is largely responsible for publicity. There should have been a backup plan for the writers' strike. Is it a good idea to do radio interviews early in the morning when the listeners are very rushed between getting the kids to school and themselves to work? Whose idea was it to lease larger venues that couldn't sell out? Who decided to keep them touring just the States to the exclusion of the rest of the world in years past?
Pop stars used to be artists that played likeable music that was popular with the general public. Now they're poorly educated junkies that forget to wear underpants, or gaydar-engaging no-talents that fit the uniform, or oreo cookies that idealize ebonics for dumb ofays. Duran Duran are not a boy band. They never were. They were New Romantics once, a pop band once, dark and slightly goth once, but they were never a boy band, ever. Who thought they should be promoted as a boy band this go-round? Nick's obsession with synths over guitars has not generated a hit for them. John's never-ending list of favorite songs and bands is very impressive. Why do DD not follow his lead? Timbabland was chosen by the band from a list given to them by Sony. How long was this list and what other "producers" were on it? Why did Sony not see a hit on Reportage, but saw one with Falling Down? If the band really do read the boards, why is common sense advice therein ignored? Where's Andy?

Why are you all speculating about why Andy really did leave and who's fault it was? We don't REALLY know. So why bother with all of it?

Well, Andy's sure disappeared from the 'net, that's for sure. His MySpace page hasn't been updated since May 24 (though somebody's logging in) and there's no mention there of his new album or the June 29 gig in Ibiza or anything.
As for why he left, if Nick was right in saying the band thinks there's 'nothing new that guitars can do' and that they want to explore synths more in the future, I can think of a few reasons why he'd feel less inclined to stick around...
NP - that's not funny.

“We don’t ever go anywhere actually. We’re always here, always making records,” keyboard player and co-founder Nick Rhodes explains. “Sometimes, the audience takes a vacation.”
...or rather a "Permanent Vacation", to quote an Aerosmith album...LOL!
