Medazzaland and Pop Trash ARE Duran Duran, and I bet if they sold millions there would have been NO REUNION. Do you guys not see they are only out to SELL RECORDS??? They will do anything and make any sacrafice to SELL RECORDS. Lindsey Lohan, Timabaland, Timberlake, making AYNIN sound like their old stuff... it's all calculated now. I've just come to the conclusion that you really need to be sectioned. With respect, What on earth are you babbling on about? Of course there probably would have been no reunion had they sold 'millions' in the 90's. Of course it's down to money. Why do we all work? Duran just happen to work in a trade that pays a good wage providing they are moderately successful at it. Let me tell you, they don't need the money. They are more than capable of living off their back catalogue very comfortably. They're still making music because THEY LOVE WHAT THEY DO. What is the point of having your attitude where it's 'write music like you did in the 90's or I'm definitely not going to like any more albums you make'.. Which is basically what you're saying isn't it? Seriously mate. You're definitely in the wrong house.

Check out A-Ha, Erasure, Depeche, etc... they are making albums they KNOW won't sell much, but they are writing music THEY want to and not collaborating with Timbaland and having Lindsay Lohan sing on their tracks. Duran Duran are loaded for life anyway simply from royalties of their hits. They are sacrificing GOOD music to sell records (See RCM) If my attitude dictates I am in the wrong house, perhaps it's because there is a shred of truth to this that you don't want to face for some reason. What is missing that you NEED Duran to be relevant and cool?

Maybe that is not good enough for them--maybe they still are seeking to be relevant! Not an easy thing to do--they want to be famous again--Fame is a drug..now that JT is sober maybe this is his drug of choice--who are we to say--lol
Whether they sell 10 million copies or 1 copy of Paper gods--I am still a fan for life!!!!

What is missing that you NEED Duran to be relevant and cool? Not getting into another discussion about RCM, but I loved that album and it brought DD a new fan base that is still around today. So they collaborated. OMG!! Like that hasn't been done before!! Everyone has their albums/songs that they love/dislike/hate. No one will be able change that... Just like your preferences. That's your own choice. DD is still out there, making albums because they love music AND to make money. I won't sugarcoat that latter fact. That's why they put out albums. That's why ANY musician performs and puts out an album... Yes even A-Ha, Erasure and Depeche Mode. DD love what they do and try to do different things each time. Who the hell cares if they collaborate with others on an album? They killed it with Janelle and Nile on PO! We're all looking forward to Paper Gods and more songs with or without a featured artist! The members on this board...well, MOST members on this board love DD and support them through songs/albums/line-up changes that has happened over the past 30 years. We don't care whether not they have a hit again (although we wish they would) or if they are "relevant and cool" to the public. We will continue loving them irregardless. It's not a NEED nor even a WANT for us. It's our PASSION for DD and all they've done and will continue to do that keeps us going. Song after song after song... I think that we don't get why you believe all of us are idiots and why you keep saying things that don't make sense. If you'd have a better attitude and explain your opinion without talking down to us, that would be different.

oh i never said everyone is idiots at all.
i just said how I think some people here cannot see how ever since the reunion each album was always a carefully thought out and planned attempt to PUSH UNITS. Think about 1988 to 2000... big huge name hip hop producers... starting with Big Thing and going into Pop Trash, there was a maturity... a depth... vs. post reunion.
Post reunion bought us Sunrise, Nice, Taste The Summer, Nite Runner, Skin Divers, Girl Panic... frivolous throw aways - I DO like those songs dont get me wrong, but the band was so much MORE than that in the 90s...
Who Do You Think You Are, Out Of my Mind, Ordinary World, Breath After Breath, Lady Xanax, etc...
the songs made you think and wonder... the guitars and drums were tough, real, etc....
Since Astronaut they've always been hiring "in the now" producers - Dallas Austin, Timbaland, etc... infact, they are only using Nile now because of "Get Lucky" ... don't be fooled. They SCRAPPED his work on Astronaut because he wasn't IN AT THE TIME!!!
I just feel with the reunion came a lack of integrity as a band. I know if Pop Trash sold millions, Warren would still be in the band.
But to say I don't belong on this forum is nonsense. Duran Duran are right up there in my top 5 bands still and I still enjoy post reunion work. Beautiful Colors, What Happens Tomorrow, The Valley, AYNIN, Meditterenea, and others are kick ass tracks...
I just sense a lot of GIMMICK since the reunion.
I also feel this place is healthier because of me and ALL YOU AS WELL. I have a different point of view - and so what?
It brings discussion to the table. And if I want to air my frustrations about the band, what better place? The people on the A-Ha forums wont care about my Duran frustrations LOL

Frustrations are one thing but everything coming from you seems so negative. Maybe it's just how you come across to some of us here. (Hard to simulate the way one sounds through typing) Oh, well. Not trying to say your opinion is below mine anyone else here.

Other points of view are interesting, but I lose interest when wrapped in negativity. I routinely block posts (and other contact) from members who annoy me, like the one being discussed here.

Not trying to say your opinion is below mine anyone else here. Sure, that's because I am being negative! I waited for 5 years to hear "oh oh oh oh oh oh oh, its time to take the pressure off". I waited 5 years to hear John's most boring and flat bass line ever, I waited 5 years to hear a song with no lyrics deeper than any Nicki Minaj or Britney Spears track. I waited 5 years to hear Nick ruin the verses with strange fart like sounds. I waited 5 years to hear a Nile production, which I usually love, but not this time. I think the song is terrible. It actually doesn't feel like it takes the pressure off! and WHY can't I air that or be negative? This is the forum to post our OPINIONS about Duran Duran, correct? Do my negative reviews make you enjoy the song or the band less? If so, I would look very deeply inside yourself. What good is a forum without a wide range of opinions? Do we need to feel everything the band does is gold in order to post? how about promote healthy discussion and allow ALL sides to broadcast their views?

If A-ha, Erasure and Depeche did if only for the pure joy of music-making, they wouldn't be releasing albums....they would be putting their stuff online for free to take, wouldn't they?
Depeche said in one interview, in fact it was its headline, "The songs aren't good enough, there are not singles...." or something like that.....but they continue to put out albums and tour....not for free, but for money....why? because one needs to make money, right?
