1. Seven and the Ragged Tiger - It's the one that stood out to me when I first heard the first 3 albums. Has my favorite DD song, NMOM.
2. The Sensual World - Kate Bush - Love and Anger blew me away and I have been a devoted fan (DD level) ever since.
3. Neon Bible - Arcade Fire - The whole album blew me away at a time when I thought no other band could affect me the way DD did. But they did. AF have made a lifelong devoted fan (also DD level) out of me.
4. Crowded House - Crowded House - The album felt very mature for me at the age I was at, because it was simple, stripped down, heartfelt, pure pop with such great hooks. It also opened me up to the world of Split Enz, who I also love. Made me a lifelong Neil Finn fan.
5. Listen Without Prejudice - George Michael - I liked Wham! too and GM's first album, but this one really affected me. It shows such maturity in the songwriting. His voice is magnificent. The best album of the 90s.
6. A Rush of Blood to the Head - Coldplay - The album really impressed me. It's solid work and I have enjoyed everything they have put out up to Ghost Stories, which was a disappointment. And contrary to popular belief, all their songs/albums DO NOT sound the same.
7. The Joshua Tree - I love War and The Unforgettable Fire as well. I haven't liked anything of theirs since then because I feel that they changed their sound too much, which is also contrary to popular belief that U2 all sounds the same. If only they still sounded like that!
8. Listen Like Thieves - INXS - A solid album and a consistently great band.
9. Boys and Girls - Bryan Ferry - Sultry, sexy "gentleman pop" as I like to call it. Nothing beats "Slave to Love".
10. Scoundrel Days -a-ha - It's a solid album through and through. The first 3 songs (Scoundrel Days, Swing of Things and I've Been Losing You) are fantastic. I liked the fist album too, but this one felt like a great leap forward for them. It is (was?) my best friend's favorite band and he didn't believe me when we first met that I loved a-ha too!
