I agree with you Skinburn.
As a long haul DD enthusiast since 81, I have been an avid reader of this forum for some time now however only recently was empowered to join. Basically due to the interesting read it is, the passion and opinions expressed from individuals such as yourself, Coolbarn and many others, I won't name all now but as time progresses I will respond to the topics/opinions which interest me accordingly.
I have enjoyed the 5 tracks I have heard already and unfortunately haven't had the great fortune to hear the album as I don't know how to get it? Therefore I must wait patiently until the 11th, despite having pre ordered via Warner.
Lets see what everyone's opinion will be once the majority hear PGs rather than the minority who have at the moment.
I also hope it fires up the charts. PO seems to be making some inroads abroad in the northern hemisphere which is promising. Having said all that, even if it doesn't sell millions? Personally its whether PG will struck a nerve with me and going by past experience the likelihood of that happening is a great one.
For those who this album is too different for their liking (at this early stage) or not jelling with them perhaps they need to ask themselves how different was planet earth to rio to union to wild boys to notorious to I don't want your love to serious to too much info to .... ..... ..... etc I could go on and on but this band do not repeat themselves and why should they. I would have never believed the same band who sang/wrote PE also sang/wrote WBs yet because of hearing all their releases in between I was directed if you like. Yet underneath the surface and with each and every album the sound as different as it is it always turns out to be undeniably DD and therefore it makes people like myself and many others included truly grateful.
I may be speaking to early and I guess I can only go by the 5 tracks I have heard which are not bad at all.
Has it ever occurred to people that maybe DD throw in a couple of new numbers that reflect their past and then some new radically different numbers in order to have have their fan base or people with expectations, grow with them in a new mood, feel, orientation or style.
If I was DD and in the same business's for 35 years it's what I might consider simply for the 'challenge sake'.
