I don't get this discussion/obsession.... I read every post and try to understand but I come back to the same thought: what the heck is the difference? DD is still performing, still pumping out albums, and here people are still complaining about the set list. They have to play from their new album and then fill in with the "hits" and then others. IDWYL was for the diehard fans, I believe, because even though that song was on a GH album, it still wasn't fully recognized. In my experience in Austin, the crowd didn't react as well to that song because it wasn't as well known. I sang it because I knew it. My cousin, a casual fan, did not. When I go to KC with my friend, I'm sure she will be the same way...although she has really been listening to PG (a copy I gave her) and loves a lot of the songs on there. But again, back to my question. Why? What's the big deal? I got off just as much when they did Rio as I did when they played TMI, White Lines, IDWYL and NMOM. You make a point..but I am only defending fans who hit 2 or 3 shows in a,row..and there are many on this board that shell out big bucks to travel and maybe they don't want to see same set list back to back..just looking for spontiety and wow factor by just changing 1 song night in and night out that is all... Maybe the resolution is for the fans to stagger their shows and not do 2-3 in a row? I mean, how does Duran Duran know you're there for a second or third night in a row?

The larger the venue, the safer the set list. If you think about it, if they are playing arena, just how many people there are hardcore fans? Most of the thousands of those in attendance are there to hear songs that they know, what some here call a "greatest his show. All in all I think they do a great job of mixing up things . Down the line, a tour of much smaller venues, that would no doubt be made up of a higher percentage of hardcore fans, would allow then do so a set list comprised of album cuts and fan favorites. It would be great, but, be prepared to mortgage your house for tickets

I am a hardcore fan, but my wife is casual. As a casual fan, my wife is confused and disapointed that "The Reflex" is not a staple on ths tour. I feel bad for her that if they are doinging Greatest Hits, that arguably the greatest hit of all is not included. If she feels that way, I imagine many others do as well. I would love to hear rarities.

In the Live From London doco/EPK DVD, in a back stage/dressing room scene where they are creating a set list, Nick suggests "we cant play all the number ones'. I've always been unsure why that is.
I've also been unsure why they can't play a four hour set with RIO in its entirety, all the number ones, bonafide album tracks, B sides including unreleased tracks too........LOL
Now that I'd be nice !!!
For those that think such a show would be too long, they can go home or leave when ever they wanted to,
I for one would hang around indeed.
You see, I've only seen DD 5 times 'live' and that is no where near enough.

I've seen him say that on that DVD. It doesn't make any sense why they can't play all the number ones I agree.

We would do shots at the bar half way thru, (bass god excepted) it would descend into one of those gloriously shambolic nights of singing, dancing and camaraderie for those with the staying power.... I mean I've danced and sung for 4 hours under those conditions LOL! And no doubt I didn't look or sound as well as I thought I did but boy was it fun!
