Simon is the 3rd member in addition to John and Nick to say this in the past 2 months!

The remark about giving away a trade secret (in the interview posted above) is rather ridicilous considering they post the setlists themselves. All those "we don't play the same show every night" in the media clearly goes to show that it's something the band has issues with. They know that bands who don't play the same show every night are held in higher regard than bands who do. It's as if they wish they were such a band.

I was going to go and see the UK Duran dates later this month. But I was offered a ticket for the Stone Roses. I could realistically only do one or the the other. The thing that swung it, was the setlist, I saw the same thing 5 times over christmas. Hence I'm going to two nights of the roses at the Ethiad. If they were mixing it up, it would have been Duran hands down.
Saying that, watch them play a wildly different set now....grrrrrr!

Social media is fine for relating info but you're right here skinburn there's s lot of people there for ego massage, follow me I'll follow you blah blah, look who's unfollowed me, who gives a shit?? and if you dare disagree or try and stimulate debate you're met with stoney silence. That's endemic across the board, and with a lot of fans too. But the DDM forum should be as open as it is here. It's not a marketing tool, it's meant to be a place of discussion and knowledge sharing and passions, good and bad. Can't rememberer when I last checked in...

Lol Cherry. I don't follow people on Twitter if they follow me but you are right on that score. Twitter is a tool that is only really exclusive for the rich and famous to show off their positions in society to whoever wants to listen. It's all one way traffic. It's degrading to watch people plead with their idols to wish them happy birthday. This is what social media does. It divides people and creates animosity. I still go with the theory that a traditional hand written letter goes much further than a private message that gets swallowed up with the rest of the 'I love you Simon' bullshit. Hence forth which is why private messages don't get read. I can relate to what you and Cherryicecream say. Also, i think social media made people more rude and arrogant. For example it happens too often that if you spend time and effort to write a nice message to someone or ask a simple question in many occasions you will never get a reply. Haven't read or seen the interview but did they really say they change setlist every evening? Hahahaha that is freaking hilarious!!! Or maybe they mean the venue/city that is printed on top of each setlist.

They know that bands who don't play the same show every night are held in higher regard than bands who do. It's as if they wish they were such a band. I think 'secret' is a word that SLB tends to overuse anyway. He used it when I put some pressure on him about 'Thankyou' when I saw him on 24th September '93. So it was well before the release date and the title hadn't even been decided let alone the song choices. He just said 'Well it's not due out. We're thinking about doing something but I'd like to keep it secret as I don't want to divulge in case someone else decides to do it'. Why would you want to keep the hardcore fans from knowing? Throw them a line for Gods Sake! I think when he gets back on top of his game he gets too big for his boots and lives for the moment. He becomes cocky and arrogance sets in. It's a trait of his that I'm not too keen on to be honest. When it goes horribly wrong again (which it will) he'll be doing interviews with anybody who is interested. My comments may sound harsh but the band seem to forget their lows and the people who helped them navigate through the rough times. Then you get wannabes like Katy Krassner who have no idea about appeasing the stalwart fan, rubbing salt into festering wounds, only interested in her click 'suck up or leave' followers (and there's only a few). I'm going off topic I know but it amounts to the same thing about treating the true fans as complete idiots. No offence to my USA peers on here but having one base in the USA doesn't help their fans in Europe or keep things interesting in the UK. You just have to take a look at Duran's Facebook page or the DDM forum to see its going quiet. I personally think Krassner is lousy at her work and the only reason she's there is because of Nick. I get tired of reading about unrelated bullshit from her. That's my opinion and I don't expect others to agree. Duran cannot afford to take any more risks that could potentially alienate their fan base. Listen to us!! 'Mix it up a bit'. How about being honest with us Simon? I just want to say I really appreciate when you say things like this. It's not really pleasant or complimentary but so much of it is true (particularly about the change in attitude when things are up for the band) and I haven't been here long enough to say anything like this without feeling like someone's going to say I'm not a "true fan." Question: What's DDM forum? I pretty much only come here or to LK forum to see what's going on so if there are other interesting forums for them I don't know about them.

Living in an area where band does not plan any Paper Gods Tour live performances (the Netherlands), I fully agree with Skinburn. After the album release in September, really NOTHING has happened. No live performances, no single, no 12", no TV shows, no nothing. O yes, we had the Pressure Off video. That's it. The official website and facebook are really a bore, no Ask Katy update since mid March, a fb post to read what Roger wrote a year ago (!) about the making of AVTAK and fanmade photographs or video snippets from US shows. Well good for them... Not even any interesting re-release from the back catallogue.
Compare that to New Order who have released several singles, 12" es, special editions etc.

I don't get why we are not seeing a video for LNITC or a dance music hitting the music clubs..I do hope they still plan to release a song in the summer..I understand nothing the release will chart--but I am confident with a good dance remix they will get a favorable push in the dance clubs....oh well what more can I say....
Are they still going to hit Australia in 2017? What about Japan? Anymore European or South American dates?

Zealous you must have the magic password to get on the LK forum...lucky you. Several attempts with no email verification and contacted directly...nada! Maybe my flowery style isn't for them. I see they want posts 20 words or less LOL!
