And that’s what makes me feel sad. It’s not for the right reasons. Andy has no love for DD (the band) whatsoever - that we do know so can we stop kidding ourselves otherwise? He didn’t want to be there for Astronaut and I can tell you - he will not want to be there for DD40. I have no desire to go watch a disjointed band on the tour, with Andy taking part at least. I prefer to remember them as they were - during the Andy years and the Warren years. Not now.
If Andy didn't want to be there for Astronaut, why in the world would he re-join Duran Duran in 2000 and then work hard with the band for 3 full years to secure a record contract? Why would he put himself through that pain if as you say he "has no love for DD (the band) whatsoever"?
This is your opinion I get it. But in case you did not read his book, Andy laid it out himself clearly that JT and Simon were in LA in 2000 and called him and asked him to re-join Duran. JT and Simon both confirmed that they called up Andy and Andy agreed to the reunion since Roger was already on board.
According to Andy, when they all finally got back together in one room, it turned out that both Nick and Andy were on the same page and decided that the proper way for them to proceed in this reunion was to record a new album, which meant getting a contract. The others were shocked that Nick and Andy were on the same page, and that they were going to get the rest of the band to follow in making new music.
Some people believe that Andy only re-joined for the money - if that were the case, I would expect the band in 2001 to just trudge out the greatest hits tour, do the reunion circuit, make their millions and then call it quits. I wouldn't expect Andy to immerse himself into the writing process and try to secure a record deal that at that point in time was never a sure thing - that doesn't make sense for him to do this if he had no love for the band.
As for the photo of Nile and Andy, Andy added that he was there to meet separately with BMG as he prepares to release his own album and has unveiled some prelim plans for live shows.

I partly agree with you, yet mostly agree with gosb however the fact remains that despite Andy's initial love for DD, he eventually (soon enough) gave up his love for DD and thereby left for a second time, I see that as the "wanting out" (of DD) "outweighed" his love for DD. not sure about anyone else but usually (in most instances) we don't all love every single thing/facet about our work place yet still in many cases we weigh up what's in it for us, the BIGGER PICTURE and hence endure. We tend to leave when we don't love it "as much" anymore, or hate it more than we love it. I just wish AT had the umm err enDURANce to stick it out, similar to the way RT has, well coz he has !!! Just saying !
