How about Gwen Stefani? She definitely has the stage presence and the distinct voice.

How about Gwen Stefani? She definitely has the stage presence and the distinct voice. As much as I hate to say it , you made your point, to me at least, with that suggestion. It also shows me, though, that the person to replace him can't be just some no-name, despite how much talent and stage presence the person has. It would have to be an established star with *current* starpower. Like Gwen Stefani. (But not Michael DesBarres--to illustrate the need for *current* starpower.)

Nice topic, Mark. Cred to you.
I`ve got one name that I think could fill in for Simon, George Michael. I even thought so back in the 80`s during the Do they know it`s/wild boys period.

..purely for the hell of it, yes. I think that was the point of this thread, which one or two people have missed. It's hypothetical, people. No-one is saying Simon SHOULD be replaced.

My opinion: Simon can't be replaced. Andy can't be replaced. Nick can't be replaced. Roger can't be replaced. John can't be replaced. Thanks. I feel the same. If Simon left, the band wouldn't be the same. I feel that way since Andy left too. I happen to enjoy John's singing voice because it's unique, but I especially love George Michael's voice. It's so clear, so melodic. He holds notes especially well too.

I don't see it happening either. Part of the uniqueness of Duran is Simon's voice and his lyrics. To have another singer in there would just be WRONG! In the Notorious book, Simon made it seem like he would leave it the 3 Taylors weren't back in the band. Nick gave his blessing to feel out the other members to see if the original could get back together. Point being, I don't think none of the other band members think Duran would make it without Simon.

Let's just hope we never have the opportunity to find out what DD would be like without Si.
