Why you always assume people are referring to you is beyond me. I didn't assume anything I was just stating where my views came from. If that's true, my bad, but it appeared that you assumed my first "Bill O'Reilly" comment was aimed at you, and you often answer posts aimed at marchinsanity, so I assumed that was the case again...I assumed that you assumed. ;D Apologies.

No I wasn't thinking that at all. I'm not offended. I knew you weren't talking about me, I was just explaining why I feel the way I do. I felt I needed to explain.

Thank you, nightboat13. I believe in the Welfare myths that you listed. But that's not really my point. I wanted to stress the Wall Street protest part. Welfare issue is only a secondary issue for me. Let's talk about the Corporate CEOs and their greed, not about a single mom who is trying to save pennies by skipping meals for her 3 kids (just because her husband passed away by accident) and living in a shelter (like someone I know). Let's talk about someone who has 5 houses and 4 cars and buys his wife a handbag that costs $5000 and his mistress a fur coat that costs $$$$$$$! Let's talk about the immense gap between the 1% and the rest of us. The lame comment that came from Obama today on the Wall street protest and his continuous support for the riches and corporations tell you that he is not left at all. He is more towards the right. Do I watch Fox news! Yes, just for a joke. News I watch is something like this . . . www.democracynow.org/blog/2011/10/6/naomi_klein_on_occupy_wall_street_to_chil_courage_to_ask_questions_we_dont_have_answers_for From the show, ". . . we (US) are not broke. We know where money is. It's at the Wall street. We are just having the re-distribution crisis . . . " - Naomi Klein I don't know any woman making her kids skip meals to get by. First off food stamps is plentiful if she has kids, second, there are ways to stretch that amount even further. I think the Wall Street CEOs are abusing the system too and I have stressed this. Why people have this idea that those of against welfare fraud are fine with CEO fraud. Many of us are opposed to abuse of any type. Also, if you qualify for food stamps you can get free breakfast and lunch for your kids at school. There are also programs that send home food for the weekend for these kids to make sure they have plenty to eat. And if you get these added benefits, they do not reduce your food stamps, so there's plenty of food to go around. There's absolutely no reason to make your child skip meals.

True, not to mention there are food pantries too. The one friend I had who was often denied food had a free breakfast and lunch at school. The reason she got the free breakfast (school didn't provide breakfast) was because her mom would waste the food stamps on drugs and half of the time my friend didn't get breakfast so the school gave her leftover lunches from the lunch before. She qualified for free lunches so she got those as well. I didn't resent that she got free breakfast and lunch, I resented her mom for selling the food stamps for drugs (she was later busted and arrested for this).
As far as I'm concerned any child who is starving is the result of poor parenting. If it came down to taking food stamps and swallowing my pride just to make sure my kids ate I would do it.

Anyway, to the Occupy protests.
Obama is in deep with Wall Street, even I will admit to that. Quite a few members of Congress are too.
However, I will give credit to him and certain democrats that are at least acknowledging that the majority of Americans are tired of the status quo and demand change now.
That's opposed to the republitards, Fuxx Noise, and Glenn Beck that claim the protesters are just there to get laid and acquire drugs, that they're eating expensive food paid for by leftwing astroturf, and that they don't bathe and shit in the grass in the park. Let's not forget that the wingnuts are saying that this is class warfare and the millionaires are afraid - afraid! They're telling us that it's OUR fault if we don't have jobs. And Beck is telling everyone that the left wing is violent as we're minutes away from murdering and killing and putting to death all the poor, gentle, gun-wielding, granny-killing righties.

Unfortunately BOTH parties sold us out. I do support this protest because quite frankly the banks are out of hand. They got bailout money and used a lot of it to give bonuses to bigwigs. They also got various tax breaks while sending jobs overseas (and they continue to do so). I am fighting with a credit card company that closed my account after I paid it (I requested this)but they keep charging me interest. I told them I wouldn't pay but the people keep calling (mostly from India).
To be fair I will say part of this problem were the banks giving loans to unqualified people. I knew people who bought houses they knew they couldn't afford. These people caused some of this.
As for jobs, I have been very outspoken against both outsourcing and immigration (legal and illegal). The fact is most professional jobs are going overseas or companies are paying visa holders (mostly Indian)to take jobs from Americans. I recently had an interview for a marketing director position only to find out they hired a visa holder for the position and they offered me a lower paying job. This after they asked me several illegal questions and told me they like to only hire thin, childless people who don't smoke. That bothered me and I ended up turning down the low paying job I never applied for anyway because I refuse to be hired based on my looks for a non looks based job.

I'd be supportive of the protests if I knew what the heck their goal is. I've been watching for days and the agendas are all over the place. Save the whales, protect the environment, banks are bad, corporations are bad, recognize Israel, forgive my student debt, we need jobs, etc.
I mean, with the civil rights movement and the Vietnam protests you knew exactly what the kids wanted. Here it just seems to be mobs of various special interests all getting together to beeaatch. There's no concrete solutions offered - banks are bad? OK, what do you want to do about that? Pass laws, increase regulation, what??
Nobody in the protests seems to have a clue, except they're against or for (fill in the blank). Passion is great, but I don't see this going anywhere. It'll either end in violence, or once really cold weather sets in the protesters will all go home without accomplishing anything. And there'll be one heck of a mess to clean up in that park.

The people I saw on tv were about cleaning up the banks. That is something that does need to happen because that will help the economy. The other issues need to stay off this protest to make it legit. Personally, I would pass bills making sure the bailouts they received were to help the economy and make sure jobs stayed here.

I totally agree because many of the banks grabbed the bailout money and ran instead of using it to invest in creating more jobs.

As someone with a nephew with a disability, I'm tired of the "tard" lingo being thrown around to refer to someone they disagree with. I understand you don't like republicans, but I'd appreciate it if you would quit using offensive terms. We can grasp your point without it.
It has been shown to be the truth. They're having public sex, drug dealers are everywhere out there selling drugs, food is being catered to them, they are getting paid by the left wing (between $350-$650/wk, according to what they do), some are running around naked, and there are plenty of pictures of them crapping on the American flag and police cars. I wonder how much they get paid to take a dump on the American flag?? If they don't want us to think this way of them then they shouldn't act in such a manner.
It is most definitely class warfare. We have the most divisive president in the history of the US. The millionaires aren't afraid. They're using it to get re-elected.
Herman Cain said it is the protesters fault they don't have jobs. I wouldn't hire a one of them if they act or look anything near what they're portraying of themselves at these protests. To clarify-He did not say it's the people who lost their jobs due to Obama's failed policies who aren't working. He said the protesters on Wall Street. But look at and listen to them!! As I said, I wouldn't hire a one of them, and apparently they wouldn't take a job either because I've seen them in interviews saying they won't take a job from a rich person, or they quit their job to come protest. How intelligent does that seem to you? But how much can you expect from the type of person that would take a dump on a police car or have sex in front of hundreds of people.
