You get to specify what kind??? In Canada, the Girl Guides sell chocolate covered mint cookies in the Fall and then Sandwich type cookies (chocolate and vanilla) in the Spring...that's it! When I was a leader it drove me crazy..people would want whatever kind we weren't selling and would always say "come back when you are selling the other kind"! really?? here in the US, there are about 8 or 10 different varieties to choose from ... i'm no girl scout mom, but i think they try to keep the standard favorites and have a "new" one every year or so. i was going to order some from someone at work - but now that i'm not there, i don't know if/where i will get any this year
<<<<<ohhhh lookies! i just became a "full member" ... LOLOL!!

I LOVE Girl Scout cookies, so I'm glad my "dealer" is close by (my daughter). I certainly don't "need" them though. My favorites: Thin Mints, and Peanut Butter sandwiches. I also enjoy the Carmel deLites, Thanks a lots, and Shortbread. In our area they are $3.00/box. In an area south of here, I heard it went up to $3.50. And in Chicago it's supposedly $4/box. In any manner, I'll probably order about 10 boxes from her. She doesn't sell a million, but then again we don't hit up a lot of people either. She sells in a certain area of our neighborhood (we tend to stay away from sections where other Girl Scouts live, out of courtesy). I also e-mail/call friends letting them know she's selling if they want any. Beyond that, nothing. Enough rambling... edited typo

I worked at the Boston area Girl Scout Council for a couple of years, and the cookie sale was meant to be run as a learning activity, with a focus on that side of things rather than the earning money side. Not all troops did it that way, but still. I don't remember how much money a girl got back for each box, but the balance of the profit that came back to the council went towards things like camperships for underprivilaged girls and for funding programs, especially in communities that had a hard time raising the funds themselves.

I love the peanut butter ones. My mom usually orders them from some kid in her neighborhood, then shares them with the rest of us.

I sold Girl Scout cookies in the 80s when I was a teen. The ones I sold then cannot be compared to the ones today. The ones I have tasted of today have no taste to them. So, I'll save my $$ and spend it elsewhere (I'm not a fan of packaged cookies anyways...I like Double Stuf but if I want a cookie, it better be a big, bakery-style one)

I can't wait to try the Cafe cookies I ordered. I think they were new this year. Though I had to order both the Tagalongs & the PNB sandwich cookies for hubby. He can't get enough of those.
