*ugh* It's actually against the rules to sell them over the internet. They pounded that into our heads at the cookie manager training....
My friend's troop sold magazines this year as their main fundraiser. She has a troop of Daisies and Brownies, so... On this year's cookie sheets, I did notice a space to just make a donation instead of buying cookies. That is new, I believe.
When I was the leader/cookie manager of my former troop, I used to buy from all of my girls -- and then buy more so that they would all get the same cookie prize. We were an in-school troop of girls who were deaf or deaf-blind, so we sold to the teachers -- practiced communication, math, manners, etc. It was a great learning experience for them and they were very proud when they earned enough $$ to go camping.

$3 WTH? I just paid $4 per box. hOW can they be diff prices across the country? *wonders if anyone sells them on ebay* Yep, as previously stated...ours are $3/box. I'm guessing our troops take in less money because they are cheaper? I'm not a leader, so I don't know. But, I'm much happier about shelling out $3/box vs. $4.

I know that cookie selection depends on the Little Brownie Bakers that the council uses, but the names of the tried and true have been the same for years and years... I remember selling cookies with my troop and learning that troops in Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale had different cookies than we did -- and they were $0.50 cheaper! That being said, our GS Council was responsible for maintaining 2 or 3 campsites. I think that the Broward (Ft. Lauderdale) and Palm Beach Councils used our camps.

Hmmm... Not you have me wondering. I lived a lot of places growing up, so both names are quite familiar. Here's a link for the cookies our troop uses (not exclusive to our troop, and not our troop's web site...it's the cookie web site): 209.162.180.40/atc/default.aspAnd, to go along with the samoa cookie stuff...I googled it and found a 2007 cookie listing with samoa's: www.girlscoutstotem.org/Cookies/CookieVarieties.htmIt looks to be the same as the Carmel deLites offered in our area. Just named differently. The peanut butter sandwiches are called Do Si Do's on that link (I remember them being called that). Other slight name changes as well.

I stand corrected. I went to www.girlscouts.org and linked to their cookie site. Evidently, they use two different bakers -- ABC and Little Brownie Bakers. Here are the cookies offered by ABC -- 209.162.180.40/atc/default.asp and here are the ones offered by Little Brownie Bakers -- www.littlebrowniebakers.com/cookies/cookies.html. Apparently, the names Samoas, Tagalongs, and Do-si-dos are registered trademarks of Little Brownie Bakers. ABC has similar cookies, but cannot use the name. Therefore, Carmel DeLights are similar to Samoas, Peanut Butter Patties are similar to Tagalongs, and Peanut Butter Sandwich Cookies are similar to Do-si-dos. Yes, I am a total geek...
