I know he's never done the big frontman thing live, but it was a weird experience seeing the lack of chemistry- I'm aware of the history of the bands internal relationship struggles That said I've got tickets for the tour that is currently in May 2022 ( assuming such things are still not banned by then)- as I really want to see songs like Boys Adventure Tale performed live. Hopefully they can add Lifelines and Minor Earth Major Sky into the set list during the gap Yes, I was booked last year for Birmingham - near to the front without paying vip so I hope my new seat allocation is the same for the rescheduled dates. No idea where my tickets are, somewhere in the front middle block I think. booked it over a year ago. You should have the same seat as the original show

I have been a fan of A-Ha for a long time and was so pleased when they toured Australia in March 2020. I never thought they would tour this part of the world. The tour was for the anniversary of their ''hunting High and Low'' album. It was great to see them on stage and enjoyed the concert. They played their ''Hunting High and Low'' album in order, so the first song was ''Take On Me'', it was so funny to see so many people rush in from the bar with their drinks when they realised what the the first song was.

The problem with A-ha is since 1988 they never invested in the USA. They only toured here for the first two records (Hunting High & Low, Scoundrel Days) and that was it. They played one (1) time at Irving Plaza in 2005. And then on their 'Farewell' (cough) tour they played NYC, Chicago, and LA.
I was at the 2nd LA show, and it was half full, at the smaller Nokia Club.
A-ha dug their own hole in the USA, had they toured here consistently they may have kept the fan base from those first two albums and grown even more since 'Minor Earth, Major Sky'. But they are still known as a 'one hit wonder' in the USA because of 'Take on Me', even though they have 10 other amazing records.
There certainly is a demand, they still have 3 sold out shows in LA coming up (well, until they are rescheduled). So in the 11 years since they last played USA demand has grown. If they can sell out 3 nights in LA, surely they can sell mid-size theaters in Bay Area, Seattle, Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta, DC, NY etc..
I've never understood their reluctance to tour in the USA.

Replace <a-ha> with <duran duran> and <USA> with <Europe> 😀 Only difference is that DD only toured their 4th and 5th album in Europe and then the reunion shows

Festival dates are not a tour. And I think they only played 3 PG festival shows, in Italy, Croatia and Ireland, plus some UK dates. That’s like a series of concerts in Southern California, Hawaii and Puerto Rico as equivalent of a US tour.

Well, they DID Tour Europe with RCM and AYNIN. At least, I saw them during both tours in Germany.

They did tour Europe with RCM but cancelled their AYNIN European tour after a few VIP dates because of Simon’s throat problems. I know because I had tickets for a cancelled show. It was said at the time that the show would be rescheduled which they never did. Never got my money back either. They did return for German, Austrian and Italy and a few Eastern European dates duranduran.fandom.com/wiki/Duran_Duran_-_(2011)_-_The_All_You_Need_Is_Now_TourSo yeah they play the occasional European gig, but as you mention ‘the narrative that they never tour Europe’ is still valid. RCM was the last proper tour, that is 13 years ago… They do tour the UK though.
