Any news on the vinyl version of the album ? I wonder if it has the same loudness I would think it would since they would both come from the same source.

Honestly, I had a chance to listen to some of it the other day. If anything, it brought out the fact the vocals are heavily layered and processed. I was hearing stuff I never heard before, harmonies I've not heard, some other instrument parts that were once buried. I hope to have another chance to listen to it closer soon but from what I heard, it didn't sound like "garbage". Did the remastering also bring out the burps, farts, and sneezes? Were you able to hear it?

Anybody who thinks these remasters sound good in any which way or or form are seriously deluded.

I didn't miss the huge cock-up at the beginning of GOF because I never heard the 1st album remaster, only Seven. Which, honestly, I never thought sounded all that good to begin with so its no wonder people think the remaster sounds terrible. I always thought the high ends were a bit harsh on many of the songs, especially on Shadows on Your Side. But yup, I must be delusional because I think, from what I heard of the Seven remasters, sounds just fine. I know, I know, that means I still can't get in the cool kids club because I don't want to vilify EMI, oh well! and they sound fine to me as well- playing on the cd player I have in the lounge. The cock up at the start of GOF is annoying and rather poor quality control by EMI though

I and others bought the new remastered Duran Duran CDs.. but honestly the sound is so bad that I can't hear!! How is it possible to put on sale such awful sound? I bought this trusting in EMI. The first seconds of the disc (Girls on Film), tells about the rest of the record: very very low quality and I ask if they (the sound engineer) heard what they did to the sound. I live in Portugal and reserve it from Holland..waited, waited for what? For this?? I belong to a duranie forum, and everyone is complaining: duranduranboard.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=aboutduranduran&action=display&thread=22890duranduranboard.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=aboutduranduran&action=display&thread=22843 Please.. I ask you and I would appreciate, if you could deliver this mail to the department responsible for it. Maybe it is a problem of some hundred CD's, and if it is that, we want to trade it for a good one. Can you help me re-directing to right person(s) ? Many thanks. Joao J.

That mistake at the beginning of "Girls on Film" really is horrendous.

That mistake at the beginning of "Girls on Film" really is horrendous. It is a horrendous mistake! I totally agree with you, but what about the sound quality? (Some of you guys acknowledge the GOF intro fcku up; anyone can detect this), but only a handful here are actually acknowledging the sound quality. The sound quality is totally unacceptable! I haven't had an opportunity to really sit down and listen to either of these recent reissues yet.

I understand exactly what you're saying about some of the "hidden" sounds being brought out from the mix. But, it should not be done at the expense of everything else. There is a reason that it is called a "mix" The layers of sound are meant to be "mixed" together to culminate into what we know as a song. The trick in remastering is to bring some clarity to everything, and maybe some of the instruments more upfront without clipping or distortion. In my opinion the 2003 remaster did just that. The 2010 remaster was just a quickie job without any thought given to this. But to each his own.

Mr. Blackscorpio, I know what you are saying to be accurate. I understand you being disheartened, and who in their right mind wouldn't be? The reality aspect of your well intended noble efforts are going to be ignored. Katy and Duran Duran turn a blind eye towards any negative comments direct at them, especially if it is true. Duran is a band that is accustomed to constant ass kissing, being told that everything about them is great, and that they can do no wrong. Besides, Duran had nothing to do with the remasters in terms of QC. Even if Duran are aware of this situation, they don't care! I thought about a petition being composed for EMI, than it occurred to me, why???! What good would it do?? For the couple of the posters that stated the remasters sound fine (for an exception of the intro), get your head out of your ass! It makes your ears saturated with crap! That, or you lot must have a cheapo system. One last thing Blackscorpio, If you are going to use links to demonstrate the mass complaints, might as well go to Amazon UK and direct them there as well. There are plethora of bad reviews there. I know what I am saying... I did not send this message to Katy.. I sent one asking her, if they heard how bad is the EMI remaster.. about my audio system, I have a pair of Proac Future 0.5 ( costs 6000EUR ), and this tell you everything. The remaster is not bad only in GOF intro.. it is all crap.. all the first cd.. the second is fine. J.
