In my opinion, this time, Girls on Film is complet with the start of the camera, which we never listen. I don't see any problem here. Now, we all can hear the full track without any edit! Anybody agree?

oh jesus christ. i finally got the cd today (well, friday, that is) and didn't have time to put it on my ipod before running out the door, so i brought the cd. i thought there was something wrong with my speakers! yikes. i will say though, having a f___ed up version of girls on film is nothing new to me. the very first copy of duran duran (the 81 album, obvs) i bought back in 96 had an error too. it's not present on my vinyl (i've got both the 81 and 83 version) nor on any remaster or anything, so i don't know. it's impossible to describe it and i've stupidly deleted the first three albums (the ones i bought in 96, i mean) off my computer to save space.
basically, the error was during the instrumental break, right after roger's drumming at approx. 2:11 or so. the sound reminds me of how a tape can sound after it's been eaten by a cassette player and you attempt to fix it and play it anyway. harrumph.
i'm just glad to have the extended night version with the camera intro, as that's always been my favourite. i've had it on vinyl but i'm too lazy to go about converting those into mp3s. i listen to the night version far more often anyway. so basically, i'm pissed but i'm used to having the song be f___ed up somehow!

Throw your iPod out a fast moving vehicle and ditch those mp3's. Both are a big part of why music sounds like it does today.

After reading this whole thread it confirms for me why I don't bother with remastered anything. ugh.
dsquared, I third that. I can't imagine hooking up an ipod to my b&w speakers...lol
Its a personal thing I suppose, but I just don't take ipods seriously. they're ok for the gym or when you're on the move on occassion, but all the time? no thanks.

I think there should be a corporation that offers multi format downloads where the customer can also select the desired compression rate.

If a person has a compatible portable audio player, the Rockbox firmware can enable FLAC playback on it. Then you just need something like a set of Shure SE530 earbuds. Or better yet, some mid to high end over the ear Sennheiser earphones. I own neither (nor do I own an iPod). If I did however, that would be the way to go.

For the cheaper ones that are under 100 bucks, the Sony V-600's definitely kick ass.

I play FLAC on my iPhone, you can really tell the difference.
