Valid points. Buying the "lossy files" on DEC. 21 and then the CD versions that will have 4 or 5 more tracks on it does seems silly. They are banking on two things, the core audience will buy the 9 trk and the 14 trk versions as well as the remixes. Hmmm, that's three things. Maybe they are counting on all of the above plus non-Duran fans will buy it. Dang! That's four things. Today we learn to count to four and this post was sponsered by the letter D for Duran Duran. LOL! ;D Cawfee can sometimes impair a person's judgement.

To be fair you have downloaded it for free so you've not got a lot to get upset about really. The band are not on a major label so probably do need to follow new methods of releasing albums to recoup the costs spent on recording them. I know other bands that have taken this route where they give a shorten version of the album 1st via download and then issue special physical editions later. Financially i can understand why some fans may not be happy but personally its fine by me. Nothing to get outraged about really just the way things are nowadays.

I will be buying the iTunes version, but only because I have a gift-card to do so. Even before the leak, I promised myself to save the card for that specific album. I probably wouldn't have spent my own money on that though.
However, I'm perfectily happy to spend my own money on the CD in February, which I was going to do regardless.
eta: Hey errbt, I just noticed the cantina band figure in your sig. I didn't even realize they made those! I can't tell by the pic, but how big is it scale-wise?

I can't believe how cheap some of you are..complaining about $9..what is that, a couple of Big Macs? The same price as a movie ticket, and this is something you can have for the rest of your life and enjoy for years and years. Support the band, buy the Itunes and the CD and go to a concert. Do you want them to still be making great music in the future? A small price to pay for great returns.

eta: Hey errbt, I just noticed the cantina band figure in your sig. I didn't even realize they made those! I can't tell by the pic, but how big is it scale-wise? Well, it's about 2/3rds of a John Taylor in height. It's a 12" figure by Hasbro. It's actually Barquin D'an (apparently the cousin of Figrin D'an, head of the original Cantina band) from Jabba's revised band in the ROTJ Special Edition. It originally had black pants. I bought a second one so I could paint the pants grey to try to emulate one of the original Cantina band members, because the actual Cantina figures were a #$@! Walmart exclusive (I f***ing hate exclusives...they just screw fans and drive up scalper prices) which of course I never ONCE saw on the store shelves during their release period ('cause scalpers snatched them all up). The "secondary market" prices were ridiculous, but, eventually, they dropped to the point where I was able to score the full set of 6 online for about $10 each (they were originally $20)! Then, way after they were released, I actually found one in a beat-up box at WalMart on clearance, and so I was able to recreate the proper seven piece band (most people think there were five or six, but there is a picture in the good old Star Wars Storybook that clearly shows seven members, so I didn't feel my band was complete without the full seven - yep, I'm weird like that). Anyway, you can see the whole band below (I have no idea what the enigmatic seventh member played, so I made keyboard-type thingy out of Lego for him, though you can't see it...thought I had a closeup, but the pics below are the only ones I could find). Edit: I just found a pic (although small) proving there was a seventh member AND what he was playing! It's the drummer! If you save the pic and then zoom in (or just zoom in to about 400% in your browser), look all the way in the back and slightly to the right of center, you can see part of the drum riser, the alien looking drum kit, and even the drummer's head between two of the others: I've literally been trying to solve this for 30 years...never thought to search the interwebs for evidence. Woo hoo! Sweet vindication!!!!! YES! *suddenly realizing everyone is staring at my geekiness* Ahem...carry on, everyone. ;D

If I HAD the kind of money to spend willy-nilly on music and concerts like I did as a teenager (as in, no bills to pay or children to support) I would. But these days it's just not that simple. In the grand scheme of things, buying the music twice doesn't make a whole lot of financial sense.
