all the fans have varying degrees of cash to spend, so it just makes sense to cater as many of them as you can. Cash is not the problem for me. I don't have iTunes in my country. Yet if I download the album, Randal is upset. If I speak about it, Randal is upset. I heard DD wants to tour China, from what I understand, China has no friggin' iTunes either, so expect this album to be bootlegged to hell over there. And oh yeah, that should upset Randal too. BLAME THE MACHINES....fukcing file tranfer sites and cd-r burners ;D

well I'll be buying it on i-tunes on 21 December and will also get the Mediterranea EP whenever it comes out. I'm pro i-tunes so that doesn't bother me at all
I'll also get the various formats that come out next year as I've been doing since the early 80's
frankly my £9 for this will give me a great deal more pleasure than spending the equivalent on almost anything else

here's what john taylor has to say about people with no itunes in their countries...
>>where can I get the album leagally if I am not in a Itunes eara? I live in iceland and Tiunes doesn´t service Iceland and I don´t want to wait till feb. to get my hands on it (I will pick it up in feb. as well)

>>JT says : ouch.. you may have to make special arrangements that officially I cannot endorse!..
--
so there you go slumdogduranie. now it doesn't really matter what anyone on here says about it now...
do what you need to do and spend the money on them when you can. jt understands your problem :-)

To be fair you have downloaded it for free so you've not got a lot to get upset about really. The band are not on a major label so probably do need to follow new methods of releasing albums to recoup the costs spent on recording them. I know other bands that have taken this route where they give a shorten version of the album 1st via download and then issue special physical editions later. Financially i can understand why some fans may not be happy but personally its fine by me. Nothing to get outraged about really just the way things are nowadays. Superb comment. I haven't downloaded the "free" tracks, i'll be buying the download on tuesday and the physical in feb - i wont be complaining. I'd rather complain about tax than buying a couple of things from Duran. I agree with these ^ but would like to add if you have downloaded this album illegally and are having a moan about how the band are releasing it then i think you've got a bloody cheek tbh.

Look at it this way... how many would gladly buy the album from ebay as an advance promo CD for $9 then buy the official CD when it's released 2 months later?
The iTunes release gives us a chance to enjoy the album at high quality without any glitches (unlike the leaked version) while waiting for the physical release.
It should give them a big promotional boost courtesy of iTunes, but unlike the Radiohead offers, iTunes can't be used in conjunction with a package deal that includes a CD.
So their choice was a 100% independent package deal with no major partner aimed at the fans mostly, or the iTunes route which will hopefully give them a solid push with a much bigger potential audience.

I'm not entirely sure what the phrase "to have a bloody cheek" means. Must be an english saying. It's the same as 'you've got a nerve' or this - to have a cheek = be disrespectful: "He's got a cheek saying you never help him – I saw you writing his report for him!"

Maybe you don't but my feeling on the matter is that many have the music now for free. Many will buy it genuinely in whatever form the like in the future which is fair enough. But I don't believe anyone that as already got the record without paying for it should complain that the band has made the music available for the 'law abiders' such as myself two months earlier than it would be if they waited for a physical release.

It's interesting that there are 6 votes for those who don't understand the album.
Unless these fans were being facetious, what's not to understand?
Can these six come forward and explain? Floor is yours...
