I get annoyed that the whole period between TWA and whatever new album they are promoting gets ignored except for White Lines and Sunrise. There's no need for White Lines when they have a huge number of their own compositions that they can choose from. I'd love to hear songs like Playing With Uranium, Electric Barbarella, What Happens Tomorrow, The Valley, Leopard etc. Going by the set lists since Paper Gods was released, nothing from All You Need Is Now will survive on the Paper Gods tour despite it being a very positively received album in their fan base. And that's a shame. And the set list should be three or four tracks longer to help accommodate their extensive back catalogue. When did Duran Duran ever care for their fan base is that regard?

Silva Halo as the opening song? But I don't have to go to the toilet that early You should try to get some XTC to dig that song, maybe that will help a lot LOL, loosen up Barney! I REALLY love that song. Probably the best one on Medazzaland.

We can all debate the set list due to all the hits and stuff...in my opinion, they really want the audience to dance and participate with the setlist. They have always done this of course, but there has been more of an emphasis in the two shows I saw in Reno and Vegas. I am sure this has played into the selection of songs as well.
They did White Lines in Vegas, but not in Reno. Simon has gone back to singing more of the verses as opposed to rapping them like he did for about 10 years, and it sounds much better!
Last Night in the City got the best reaction in Vegas of the new songs...as mentioned previously, this song is so easy to dance to even if you don't know the song.

The reason for not playing songs from PT and Meddazzaland is obvious: these albums were not successful, were trashed by the critics and many audience members don't know any of their songs. Medazzaland was not even released outside the US. Same reason is why they don't play songs from Liberty. The exceptions are EB and Serious, which people may recognize from the Greatest CD.
I'd rather have them play lesser-known older songs than the WC-years crap. I would like to hear TMI live though.

I wish they'd do special fan shows like they did in 2011 in the UK. Lots of new songs and some classics that never were played live or a very long time ago. Off course UK fans were privileged then. So they should do a few in the US too. Off course this only draws people who are die hard and willing to travel, but it generates a great atmosphere for the audience and for them because there are only fans in the audience. I witnessed such a show (The first reunion show in the UK in 2003) and that house was on fire !

Look everyone... It's pretty clear what Duran Duran does over the years. They just wanna cash in one more time and get the hell out of here. That's why they go for the major company once more after several attempts that the band classifies as undermining their identity and stuff.
Truth is, a major company will only accept commercially adequate stuff that belongs to this age. Simply becaus the core fan base just isn't big enough to let the band have it their way. The band sells it as if they keep on reinventing themselves but they will soon enough find out it will get harder and harder to keep up and still maintain some sort of Duran Duran dna.
There's not much left to go for with this aging band so we might as well be happy they're still around making music. Sad things though., when they decide to just play stuff us diehards wanna hear, lots of people just ain't gonna show up. Period.
If we're lucky they might consider a mini tour playing songs that would appeal more to the core fan base but I'm afraid this time around we're just not there yet. Warner has placed their bets on this band because of the back catalogue and the guys making an effort once more with a contemporary album. Let's just hope for the best this project is gonna work out well for them so they get a second shot at it at Warner.
If not then there's plenty time for the boys to play theaters doing the stuff we fans wanna hear for 200 bucks per seat.

I was all for dropping some of the hits, because I'm *really* tired of The Reflex. I don't like that song. But I talked to quite a few fans at Red Rocks who were "long time fans, first time show" or they hadn't seen Duran for 20 some years. Then I understood why they still play them. I might be tired of the hits after seeing several shows per tour, but honestly we are the outliers - most of the people in the back want to hear HLTW and don't understand why we're all freaking out over Secret Oktober. I was disappointed in the lack of songs from AYNIN. FWIW, I really like White Lines!

I've only had the chance to see them twice live so I am just excited to see them perform any songs. Of course I have my favourite songs that I would like to hear. I actually enjoyed White Lines more than I expected live, in fact it made me quite like it though there are many other songs I'd prefer. But I could do without many songs from the 90's period or I don't crave those ones. I love hearing Reflex, Wild Boys, Rio, AVTAK, Notorious etc. I do appreciate that they still play their we'll known singles but obviously mix in the new album too. I would like a few of the lesser known songs from the early days Anyone Out There, Sound of Thunder, Secret Oktober, The Chauffeur, American Science, Matter of Feeling.
