who can replace Simon... hmmm, well how many other people do we know that forget the lyrics and dance funny? NOBODY can replace Simon. Most fans would eat a replacement alive if they forgot the words or goofed the way he does.
LONG LIVE SIMON!

David Sylvian - closest thing to Simon's whiny voice. Absolutely love them both!

...not that I think that would work either, but you have a point. Andy is closer to Simon's vocal range than John would ever be. While I agree with Andy's vocal abilities probably being better suited, I do think John could handle it as well, at least, in a live setting. forgive me for not knowing this, hasn't he already covered Rio and HBTR as part of his solo tours? Yes John did do those Duran songs, but they did not sound very well. I love John, he's the best at the bass, but his singing abilities are second to the bass.
As for Andy, it would be nice to hear him sing and play the guitar simultaneously, he might get even more creative and inventive as he gets into the songs his way.
As for replacing Simon - hard to picture it. But why not take Stephen Duffy? He laid out some great vocals for the superb Devils album.

duran duran without simon wouldn't be duran duran. simple as that! simon's voice - like it or not- is duran duran trademark. you could change any player in duran duran but it's always simon's voice that gives the music *that* particular duran duran flavour/feeling.

I mentioned The Undertones in that list. Feargal Sharkey left and the band split, some of the remaining members formed That Petrol Emotion, a criminally overlooked band. The Undertones re-formed with a new singer a few years back, ironically from the same village as Feargal. They played in a bar a couple of miles from me. I was hesitant..Undertones but no Feargal? Could it work? In the end, and at the very last minute I went (deciding factor - I had missed the 'Tones the first time around, and they were one of the few on my 'list' of bands to see) It was a fantastic night, the new singer threw everything into it, but he was himself, not a Feargal clone and I'm glad I went. (It could have had something to do with the fact that it was an Irish band, playing in an Irish-owned bar, in an Irish stronghold of North West London, on St Paddy's night that made it what it was ) Maybe if the Kajagoogoo reunion doesn't work out, and Limahl is looking for another job? ;D Limahl is shite with Kajagoogoo - Nick Beggs much better - so if it has to be I say follow the Kaja example and let the bass player sing!! But, without Simon - UNIMAGINABLE!

nah,DD without Simon is just not thinkable for me. A bit like Nirvana without Kurt Cobain. But look at what happened with Nirvana, the "brand name" disappeared, but Dave Grohl (Nirvana drummer for those who may not know), turned aroud and has become successful with the Foo Fighters. I can see the rest of DD revamping things a bit, maybe coming up with a new name, and still making a decent career of it.

What? Are you kidding me? John and Nick are the ones that started Duran Duran, not Simon. Each band member gives DD it's unique sound, not just Simon's singing. To me, the band never sounded the same anytime a member left. Maybe to YOU it wouldn't be DD, but if John and Nick weren't in the band, it wouldn't have it's original founding members, so it would definitely stray from the sound it was intended to be in the first place. Heaven knows it's already strayed far enough from what it used to be.
