..indeed.
...none of them is any more important than the others. Losing/replacing any one of them completely changes the band dynamic.

duran duran without simon wouldn't be duran duran. simple as that! simon's voice - like it or not- is duran duran trademark. you could change any player in duran duran but it's always simon's voice that gives the music *that* particular duran duran flavour/feeling. What? Are you kidding me? John and Nick are the ones that started Duran Duran, not Simon. Each band member gives DD it's unique sound, not just Simon's singing. To me, the band never sounded the same anytime a member left. Maybe to YOU it wouldn't be DD, but if John and Nick weren't in the band, it wouldn't have it's original founding members, so it would definitely stray from the sound it was intended to be in the first place. Heaven knows it's already strayed far enough from what it used to be. Agree with that!!! jtforever "it's more fun in the dark"JT

I love Duran as fab5 but i have been loving and supporting their music and the band also in the years that Roger wasn't with them, in the years that Andy wasn't with them, in the years that John wasn't with them. for years they have been selling us their music under the name Duran Duran even if only 2 original members were in the band... i think they have been able to do that for years only because there was Simon's voice on it. even Warren, when John left the band [back in january 1997], told to the worryed fans hanging outside the studio: don't need to worry about the future of Duran Duran, as long as we have Simon's voice you'll have a Duran Duran album. I know how important is every single original member of the band, I'm just saying that without simon as lead vocal duran duran wouldn't have their unique trademark and it would be very difficoult [impossible i'd say] to carry on as Duran Duran as they did without andy, without roger and without john. that's only my opinion of course...

Duran Duran without Simon is just not Duran Duran. His voice is what gives that almost instant recognition that....'that' is a Duran Duran song. Without him, it just would just totally not be right. For during a concert, replacing John, Nick, Roger, for whatever reason....and they replace them so the concert can go on.......[just saying here, to make a point].....maybe.....but to try that with Simon.......it wouldn't ever be possible. Simon *is* the lead voice.

...I get the impression you haven't listened to Andy's singing in a while. If you have, that's fine...but if you haven't, then check out the couple of tracks he sang on recently on his myspace page. Not starting anything with you here, Phantom...just curious to know what you think.

All I'm saying is that, to me, no one member is more or less important than the others. I happen to hate Stephen Duffy's voice, so that would be out of the question listening to that on a DD song. I don't think I'd buy a DD album with him on it.
How about Paul Young? I loved his music back in the day, and I still have his "The Secret Of Assocation" album. I think he's got a great voice that would be ideal for Duran Duran's type of music.
