SekretReligion - i think the food here must be one of the reasons i've never left ;-) i *love* mighty taco, and they still have those goofy ads... and shall i say "duff's" or "anchor bar" to get you drooling for some wings? ;-) Duff's - it's mile than a mile from where I grew up. Someone on a plane last year told me there was a great place on South Park Ave. he couldn't remember the name. *looks at puddle of drool on the floor* We used to go to Mighty Taco after the 11PM Christmas Eve Service. It's a good way to welcome the Baby Jesus.

Oh, man! I totally forgot about Loganberry soda. Not as strong as other sodas, but a distinct taste nonetheless. (And my family gets on me for saying "soda" now as opposed to "pop.")
I think Bocce's delivers nationwide. My brother refused to eat any DC Metro area pizza, so my mother had it FedEx'd. I like the thick pepperonis that cave inward.
My parents used to go to Duff's to bring us wings---good stuff. And I went to middle and high school near the Anchor Bar, and many students would sneak out to get their wings.
I got beef 'n' weck from Joe the Butcher in Ellicott Square when I worked downtown. They carve it right in front of you, and it's nice and salty.
Mighty Taco: used to go there when I was in college (there was one not too far from it). Their nachos are awesome and I miss their commercials. (I like the ones that used to come on during Off Beat Cinema on Channel 7---hell, I miss OBC!)
Anderson's: they had cinnamon custard? Man, I missed out. I'd go there all the time (and I loved when I had a car so I drove my friends and I there) and usually get one of the tubbed ice creams.
Maybe I should make a trip back to Buffalo...though I don't have a real reason to...

Ooh, weck does sound good, especially with roast beef.

I found a blog about it. blogs.chron.com/cookstour/archives/2006/03/the_case_of_the.html Anderson's custards do not compare with any that I have found elsewhere. The cinnamon is my favorite and my aunt and cousins have the same quest I do when they visit my mom. My friend loves the black raspberry as much as I love the cinnamon. Weck is the best. I don't use a lot of salt normally but there is something about the rock salt on those rolls I love. Soooo good. I don't have a favorite beef and weck place. Though I think I really liked Ulrich's.

When I was out of state for a few years the two things I missed about Texas was:
1. a decent Chicken Fried Steak 2. real Mexican food

Born and bred Pittsburgher living in Florida now...
Snyders of Berlin Cheese curls -- I usually ship myself some when I go home to visit
Fries at the "O" (never had a hot dog there and don't plan to, since I am a vegetarian), but the fries were out of this world!
Any type of dessert from Gulifty's in Squirrel Hill. My dad always took us there to celebrate with dessert for special occassions...
