Well, there you go making accusations. How do you know what people's situations are? There are things like libraries, which offer free computer usage and wi-fi. Or maybe using a friend's computer at their house. It's not a matter of paying the money for the album. It's paying money for an album of LESSER QUALITY. Think about it. $9.99 for a digital download -- lossy quality 256 AAC. These files can't be converted or amplified as much as a CD can without complete distortion. $9.99 - 12.99 for the hard copy release -- perfect master quality. Can be ripped and re-ripped as many times as you would like. Plus more songs, liner notes and packaging. That inflated price is because you have to pay for the paper and plastic and manufacturing costs. $9.99 for a digital album, regardless of who the artist is, is a JOKE. Why should I pay the same amount of money for the same album two times? THAT is the question at hand. I did say IF you can afford a PC. If people can't afford the album then fair enough. I think Itunes itself is a rip off but people seem to prefer it rather than buying a higher quality CD which I don't understand but maybe it's about following the fashion of the moment. I can see your point though. I think maybe they should have done some deal that if you bought the download you got some discount on buying the physical release maybe.

Of course there's a choice. But at the root of it, I don't think that's what the argument is about. It all sort of started because of this post: As if accusing those who aren't buying both versions to be lesser fans. Up to a point of kind of agree with that other quote. Don't get me wrong i don't think it makes people lesser fans but if you can afford a PC/laptop and pay for the broadband to download the album for free, I hope you can afford to save $9 over 3 years for a download of a new album by possibly your favourite band. I don't mean this to sounds as harsh as it does so apologies. Considering that my comic-book bill last month was over US$800, yes, I can afford $9 on iTunes...except I don't get iTunes and even if I did, having heard iTunes songs before, it's not my preferred format. It's more than likely I'll get 2 copies of the cd, deluxe and regular for the car, maybe additional if I'm getting any for friends as presents. Reminds me of the 80s, sometimes they'd only have albums on cassettes and I'd decline, Megadeth on cassette just sucked ass...preferred the vinyl.

But its not the same album. Last I checked, the physical copy is going to have more tracks. Therefore, its not the same album as this one. Also, the way the band have been talking in interviews, they are treating the physical release as the full album and this is only part of the album, the part that is finished. They are putting the finishing touches to more tracks that will be on the actual physical release. So therefore, your argument is moot because its not the same album! This has 9 tracks, that one will have 13 or 14 tracks. All the more reason to wait for the physical release and not bother with the iTunes version, though, right?

That's not what I said at all... unless you are saying its ok to pirate this version because its not the full album. I disagree with that completely. Tho, I'm sure there are some on here that think Duran Duran should just release their albums for free anyhow because they already have tons of money and can afford to give away their work for free. Wow, the band does something to address people's complaints about them taking too long to release an album and people STILL complain! I said nothing about pirating. I was just pointing out that you made the physical release sound better than the digital one, which was also part of Spacebird's point.

On a commercial point of view is genious. On the costumer (fan) side, it sucks.

Exactly. Maybe we need to start a poll to see if people would of preferred to wait another two months for the full on physical release and have no new music to listen too till then, or are glad the band have made the tracks available to us now to enjoy.

But it's not ready yet so I'm happy they've let us buy what 70% ? of the new album early for us to enjoy.
