yes. Not sure thats rare, it was on a 1987 Chic/Sister Sledge CD comp I picked up for £1 last week.
The rare stuff is the stuff people dont talk about, I'm sure some of the board have stuff they would never talk about!
I think for me, its things like the Liberty demos, we'd never have heard those unreleased tracks otherwise.

I don't know if this sort of thing is done on purpose or there's no real though given to just share info like this. Maybe it's because there are some collectors out there that are just WAY too competitive when it comes to collecting Duran Duran stuff and they want to make sure they have the edge on everyone else. This is just my opinion and speculation. I think for the most part, we all have the rare stuff that's out there (demos, b-sides, live stuff, etc). The only track(s) that come to mind that I don't have - and I don't think anyone here has - are the ones off of this CD: CDR: 2004 US (Epic; no catalog number) [studio promo; yellow Epic card sleeve] ?:?? Watermark Language ?:?? Sunrise - Final Master ?:?? What Happens Tomorrow (Patterson With Strings) I saw it only once on Ebay and have never seen it again or in my searches on the net.

Danny Reddington at Reddingtons Rare Records in Birmingham once showed me a locally pressed 1979 7" single with JT (or Nigel as he was listed on the cover) playing.....drums! Yes I know it sounds odd- but Reddington's got a good reputation in the biz, so it was either genuine or he was mistaken. Certainly knew his Duran! hello friends, ok well i got the word back on this from john and he's says it's not true... "I never played drums on anything that could possibly have been recorded." was his exact reply. so now we know!! that gives an interesting side note to this topic. how many times has someone tried to sell you something dd related that turns out to be a load of crap? i've had it tons of times. repackaged bootlegs, cdr copies, cheap photocopies and photo reprints. the list goes on and on... and i totally think that collectors who hold stuff in and don't share can kiss my ballsack! LOL what's the point. i think that you'd get a better feeling knowing you were the one who made something that was not out there for fans be out there. i can tell you with certainty that i have shared stuff that would have never ever made the rounds publicly had i subscribed to keeping it all for myself. or at the very least it would have taken a lot longer to get out than it did. derek...

This is just my opinion and speculation. Yeah I think it's sad too. Believe me if I had anything worthwhile I'd be sharing it with anyone who wanted it if I could. To me that's what fandom(any fandom) is, it's about sharing with other people, other fans, being sort of like a big team.

Let me put it this way... we all know that sometimes when you get something rarely seen, unheard, commissioned, it took years of hunting and $$$ get paid. No wonder some wouldn't easily share what they've got. If we are talking real RARE it's not the case of buying stuff for pennies... Don't you think?

I think the people holding the Reportage mastertapes own the real rare material at the moment! I don´t assume they are willing to share right now, do they?

I don't know I just don't think I ever really think of it in dollars and scents. I would have bought it anyway because it was important enough to me to buy it but I don't necessarily view it as "mine exclusively" as in I can't let other people hear it or watch it or tell them about it or whatever. If anything I kind of tend to view stuff like that as making it easier for me to share with others because now I have it, I can share it easily so that way other fans don't have to go through all that.
Especially nowadays when it really costs next to nothing to make a scan of a picture or something printed or to make an MP3 of a song and it also costs next to nothing to post it online. It's not like I'd be losing money on the deal or something. I wanted it and I was willing to pay for it--just to have it, not to make money off it or to feed my ego, so I'm not losing anything by sharing it. I mean honestly what's the point in hoarding it really? Particularly if it's just a matter of making computer file to share it and you still have the original, well you've still got the original, you're just letting other people see/hear/read what it is. Like say a rare 45, you've still got the rare 45, but other people can at least hear what's on it. Or a rare photo, you've still got the rare original photo but other people can see what it looks like, that sort of thing.

No wonder some wouldn't easily share what they've got. If we are talking real RARE it's not the case of buying stuff for pennies... Don't you think? Well, I can partly see your point about someone being on the hun for a long time to get something, but are you saying that there's satisfaction in having a song or songs that no one else has or might be able to get? I think it's pretty much agreed that the collectors on this board (and we know who we are) are pretty giving when someone is looking for a song or songs. I've even shared the digital downloads of the GOF remixes that came out recently (just the ones that were never commercially issued on the CD single). So what if I paid .99 cents for the track? Some members either were not able to purchase the track due to their location or wanted a better copy. It was no hardship on me to share it. It's kinda funny that this sort of 'paranoia' about sharing music has even reared it's ugly head into the Duran Duran collecting world. I know of other bands that I'm a fan of and the issue of sharing really isn't an issue, regardless of how long it's taken someone to track a song or songs down or what sort of $$ they've shelled out for it.

I'd agree. Reportage is definitely something I'd like to hea most! I'm not convinced this will ever officially be released, and it would be great if it just got leaked on to the web if it's likely not to see the light of day. There must be copies of Reportage out there!
