But livserge, with all due respect - no one here said that they thought Andy owned the copyright to any particular sound. You say that you "laugh a bit when others think he owns the copyright to that sound" when no one here has said that. Randal is like a little boy who plays with and dresses up dolls. He plays pretend and puts words in their mouths - the folks on the message board being his dolls. Coolbarn made a simple, straightforward comment (that was a compliment - AND entirely accurate) and all of a sudden everybody who "happens to not hate Andy" is thrown in some imaginary (and ridiculous) bucket of "Andy created a f'ing guitar style/sound". I mean....come on. You gotta be kidding me. What most Duranies understand is that Duran's early sound blended some specific elements together in a way that is identifiable as "Duran Duran". Even the band themselves have said as much. Anyone who thinks it's a coincidence that the drums and guitar all of a sudden, sound totally in line with the first two albums.......they're either deaf, stupid, lieing to themselves, or all of the above. Add to that, as Droid has already pointed out, are dozens of interviews of the band themselves saying that they've gone back to their old sound. Well lets see.....uh, who was playing guitar at that time? Chuck Berry? No. John Lennon? No. Peter Frampton? Uh....nope. Ah.....Andy Taylor? Hmmmm. How did Andy play the guitar on the early Duran stuff? Lol........like Dom is playing it now. Coincidence? Hmmmm. Coolbarn is a smart bloke, even keel, and a musician himself (unlike ol' Randal who has to have basic musical terms explained to him repeatedly and then whines about how no one has explained things to him in a way that he can comprehend). Call me crazy, but I'm PRETTY SURE Coolbarn, and the rest of us here, are aware that Andy didn't invent power chords OR the internet (thanks Al.....and for flying around saving the planet too.....him and Sheryl Crow). Speaking of Sheryl Crow (not trying to derail the thread, I just didn't want to create a whole new thread on this. I merely present this for your amusement/consternation): www.thesmokinggun.com/documents/celebrity/sheryl-crow-queen-greenBe sure to read the comments under the article...those are hilarious! Gross, but funny. Ok, back to Runway... Crow lost her marbles some time ago. She went from being down to earth to preachy, self righteous and divorced from reality. Why is it that the biggest polluters on the planet are the very ones that jet around telling everyone else how to live? Nutty egos. Who's she kidding? Crow's too full of shit for one square (and I actually used to quite like her albums, particularly The Globe Sessions). Was listening to some ol' Bowie an hour or so ago and one of the songs was Moonage Daydeam.

Re: Crow...definitely! I do admit to liking her music though. And yeah, the Ziggy Stardust album...what else can be said? Awesome stuff. Runway. LOL! Crow's music - me too......I mean, I loved the Globe Sessions.......Dylan giving her Mississippi and her great rendition.....Members Only.....and all the rest. She was one of those who broke onto the scene and who I initially dismissed and then when I was kinda forced to actually listen to her......her stuff was good. I don't care who it is or their political views.....when musicians egos go to their heads and they start jumping into politics.......it's like watching a drunk get behind the steering wheel of a car. Hell, now I gotta pull up Members Only. Great song.

Man, I agree 500%! Loved The Globe Sessions too. I honestly think she's one of the best female artists out there...she's very talented. Wacky -- but talented.

See.....our challenge is to find something that we both DON'T like (seriously, across the board....both of us with pretty varied musical tastes across the map - it's a bit uncanny at times that we like the same exact stuff......right down to Cherry Coke zero!). You buying the Six Million Dollar Man and Bionic Woman dvds when they come out this fall?

'Dom is channeling his inner Andy? ' (.....Randell logic kicking in ****smoke comes out of his ears and wheels crank and clunk slowly as he attempts to decipher****) ''Wait, does that mean he summons Andy in a seance, so that he and the spirit of Andy can be one? You people are really whacked; Dom and Andy CAN'T possibly be one. They are two seperate individuals'' - Randell's vain attempt at human comprehension Lol. The weekend is almost over musicmaniac. I need one more day!

I agree about The Globe Sessions. I think that it and the one before (Sheryl Crow) were masterfully written, played, and produced albums, and the fact that she did the bulk of all three things was a great "in your face" to those who claimed that she rode to fame on others' coat tails with Tuesday Night Music Club. Then, C'monC'mon seemed to struggle with the weight of living up to those two (plus she had found happiness with Lance Armstrong, and as much as I usually hate this cliche (I love plenty of cheesy, happy music), her music had much more weight, power, and poignancy before that (when she was down over her breakup with Clapton). Since then, nothing she's done has captured my attention anywhere close to SC and TGS!

You buying the Six Million Dollar Man and Bionic Woman dvds when they come out this fall? Six Million Dollar Man I could get into...I never really was into Bionic Woman. I liked the Bigfoot episodes though...LOL! Oh...and the Death Probe...who could not love the Death Probe? LOL! I didn't know those were coming out on DVD though! That's cool! I assume these are both season one? Universal is ticking me off though -- I'm still waiting for Night Gallery, Season III. They've always treated Night Gallery like an ugly stepchild at Universal. Anyway, yeah...we've got a lot in common. Runway. ;D

Although, I can see the point of critics who say she's recycling her material. But hey, she's got a unique sound -- why change it? You can hear the emotion in her songs. Great, great, stuff... Runway.
